Santa Clara Broncos Betting Preview
Santa Clara got off to a rocky start this year, but they’ve since been able to right the ship and get their record back into shape. The Broncos lost to Arizona State, North Dakota State, Nevada, Stanford, and Washington during a 3-5 opening stretch. Wins over McNeese, Fresno State, Bradley, Kennesaw State, South Dakota and Pepperdine came next, then a loss to San Francisco. Since then it’s been a 5-1 run over the last six games for Santa Clara. The lone loss in that time came courtesy of Loyola Marymount. Otherwise, it’s been wins over San Diego, Oregon State, San Francisco, Gonzaga, and Washington State in that time. The result has been a 14-7 overall record through the first 21 games of the season for the Broncos.
In the Washington State game on Thursday, the Broncos came out of the break with a 49-38 edge. Santa Clara hit a 44-27 run the rest of the way, resulting in a nice 93-65 blowout victory. Leading the team in scoring with 17 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists in 18 minutes off the bench was Johnny O’Neil. Christoph Tilly managed to double up with 13 points, 10 boards, and two assists, while Adama-Alpha Bak put up 16 points with four assists and two steals in 32 minutes of work.
Oregon State Beavers Betting Preview
Over on the Beavers’ side, they’ve been quite the consistent team so far this year, with only one instance of consecutive losses. Oregon State opened on a 10-2 run with wins over Utah Tech, Weber State, Western Oregon, Cal State Fullerton, UC Davis, Idaho, UC Irvine, Sac State, Charleston, and Oakland in that time. A spotty 2-3 stretch came next, featuring losses to Nebraska, Loyola Marymount, and Santa Clara among wins over Portland and San Diego otherwise. Since then it’s been a 3-1 run for the Beavers. They’ve got a loss to San Francisco among wins over Pacific, Gonzaga, and Pepperdine for a 15-6 record through 21 games.
Matched up against Pepperdine on Thursday, the Beavers came out of the break looking up at a 34-29 advantage on the scoreboard. Oregon State kept it going from there on a 49-34 run and powered out the dominant win 83-63. Michael Rataj was the team’s leading scorer with 22 points, four rebounds, four blocks, and two assists. Nate Kingz hit the 20-point mark along with three assists, one rebound, and one block in 35 minutes of work during the victory.

Santa Clara vs Oregon State Prediction
I’m likely staying with Oregon State, but this should be a pretty fun matchup. The Beavers didn’t have too many issues with a struggling Pepperdine team in their last outing, hitting 60.7 percent from the field with a 30-25 rebounding edge and just nine turnovers in the 20-point victory. Oregon State has scored 70 or more points in six straight games now.
The last time these teams met up, the Beavers took a tough overtime road loss 82-81 on January 9. Santa Clara scored 18 points on 10 Oregon State turnovers in that one, so ball control will need to be a focus here. I like the Beavers to get some revenge in the end.
