The Second Round was a loss to Houston on March 22 however, ending the Bulldogs’ campaign.

This year Gonzaga kicked things off with a matchup versus Texas Southern at home. The Bulldogs cruised in that one, turning a 46-27 halftime lead into a 98-43 blowout win after a 52-16 run from there. Leading the way was Tyon Grant-Foster with 15 points and five rebounds, while Braden Huff added 14 points and five rebounds. I’ll stick with Gonzaga. The Bulldogs did what they were supposed to do in an easy opener matchup versus Texas Southern, bagging 53.6 percent shooting, 17-of-21 (81 percent) from the line, a 50-23 rebounding edge and a 56-22 advantage in the paint. Gonzaga held the Tigers to just 25.4 percent shooting on the other side as well in a solid overall blowout effort.

As for Oklahoma, they got off to a pretty rough start in their win over Saint Francis. That said, the Sooners found their groove in the second half and eventually shot a nice 55.7 percent from the field with a 39-22 rebounding advantage. Oklahoma notched 23 team assists and just 11 turnovers as well while taking the points advantage in the paint 54-36. The Sooners certainly need to avoid a slow start here, which may be a lot to ask in a tough matchup on the road. In the end I like Gonzaga to power out the cover but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Oklahoma hang around for most of the game.
