Norfolk State Spartans Betting Preview

The Spartans have been pretty busy so far this year, with five games in the can already. Norfolk State won their first three outings, dispatching, Wilkes-Barre, VA Lynchburg, and James Madison. Game four was a loss 84-73 to William & Mary, though.

In their last matchup versus Hampton, the Spartans were able to get back into the win column. Norfolk State was up 34-20 by halftime and won 67-58 despite getting outscored in the second. Brian Moore led the team with 20 points with three assists.

Over on the Stanford side, they’ve cruised through four wins thus far. The Cardinal kicked things off with an 85-62 victory over Denver, then took out CSU Fullerton 80-53. In game three Stanford beat Northern Arizona 90-64.

Matched up against UC Davis on Sunday, the Cardinal took a 41-23 edge into the second half. Stanford was outscored 42-38 from there but still won handily 79-65. Maxime Raynaud led the team with 33 points and 14 rebounds. Stanford will meet Santa Clara, Grand Canyon, and Cal Poly after this game.

Norfolk State vs Stanford Prediction

I’ll probably just stick with Stanford. The Cardinal have looked pretty good so far and they’re coming off another double-digit win over UC Davis. Stanford didn’t shoot especially well from the floor in that one (37.3 percent) but had a 45-30 rebounding edge (16-3 offensive) and hit 21 of their 25 free throws (84 percent). That makes 79 or more points in all four games for the Cardinal.

As for Norfolk State, they’ve got just the one blemish on the card so far and have hit 73 or more points in four of five games this year. The Spartans were out-rebounded by Hampton 43-34 in their last game however, and they’ll have a tough go in that regard against Stanford. I like the Cardinal to control this one pretty much the whole way.
