New Orleans Privateers Betting Preview
It’s been a rough season for the Privateers, with only a few scattered wins to speak of. New Orleans fell to Kansas State, Troy, Stonehill, and Robert Morris in their first six, then hit a losing streak versus Baylor, Nicholls, Iowa, Texas, LSU, McNeese, Vanderbilt, UTRGV, Texas A&M-CC and SE Louisiana. After wins over Lamar and East Texas A&M came another losing streak. Those defeats came courtesy of Northwestern State, Houston Christian, and Incarnate Word. SE Louisiana and Stephen F. Austin. The result so far has been a rough 4-19 overall record through the first 23 games of the year for the Privateers.Â
In the Stephen F. Austin matchup on Monday, the Privateers hit a 35-29 advantage in the first half. New Orleans scaled back on a 45-39 run and got into overtime but eventually lost 88-85 in the end. Kohen Rowbatham led the team with 28 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Leland Coleman doubled up on 21 points with 11 rebounds and three steals, while Theo Grant added 18 points in 41 minutes of work during the defeat.Â
Houston Christian Huskies Betting Preview
Over on the Houston Christian side, they started the year on a rough run but they’ve been better lately. The Huskies lost 10 of their first 14 outings. Those defeats came at the hands of Texas, Creighton, Rice, Eastern Michigan, Northern Arizona, UTSA, Northwestern State, Texas A&M, North Texas, and Lamar. Houston Christian has gone 6-3 in their last nine games though, falling to only McNeese State, Incarnate Word, and Nicholls State. The wins otherwise have come versus Stephen F. Austin, Incarnate Word, UTRGV, Texas A&M-CC, New Orleans, and SE Louisiana. That gives the Huskies a 10-13 overall run through the first 23 games of the year.Â
Matched up against Nicholls in their Monday outing the Huskies went into the second half with a 38-27 advantage. Houston Christian broke down from there on a 48-29 deficit and took the eventual loss 75-67 in the end. Bryson Dawkins led the team with 21 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Julian Mackey added 11 points with two assists and one steal, while Elijah Brooks had 10 points with three rebounds.Â

New Orleans vs Houston Christian PredictionÂ
I’ll just stay with Houston Christian. The Huskies do need a good bounce-back effort here following a disappointing second half versus Nicholls. In that one, Houston Christian ended up shooting a nice 49.1 percent from the field but also got out-rebounded 37-29 as they faded late. The Huskies have been below 68 points in consecutive games now, losing both of them.Â
These teams last met up back on January 25 in an 86-76 road win for Houston Christian. The Huskies finished strong in that one on a 49-38 second half and had a 32-26 rebounding edge. It was a sloppy game overall with 28 total turnovers, however, both teams shot well (over 50 percent) in a fairly high total. Provided Houston Christian can get it together and notch a solid home effort here in the rematch, I think the Huskies will take this one without too much difficulty.Â
