New Hampshire Wildcats Betting Preview

The Wildcats took a big step backward in 2024-25 following an above-.500 run of 16-15 in the season prior. Last year New Hampshire went just 8-24 overall and limped to a 6-10 record in the America East games. That result would leave the Wildcats ahead of only UMBC and NJIT in the standings, tied with UMass Lowell near the bottom. The good news for New Hampshire is that they were able to put together a 5-2 run near the end of the regular season, but closed with losses to Maine and Bryant. In the first game of the America East Tournament, the Wildcats took a 64-57 loss to Vermont to end their season on March 8.

Looking ahead to the 2025-26 campaign, New Hampshire will retain just one starter in head coach Nathan Davis’ third season on the sideline. They’re hoping for a better start this year, as last season’s early games were ravaged by injuries which led to the Wildcats starting 12 different players. Davide Poser is the lone returner who started more than 10 games last season, averaging 6.5 PPG and 2.2 RPG along the way. KiJon Robinson transfers in from Hofstra after 5.7 PPG on average last year, while junior Jack Graham arrives in town from Richmond.

Clemson Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Clemson side, they managed to post a nice regular season in 2024-25 but their campaign ended on a pretty shocking note. The Tigers rolled to a 27-7 overall run and went 18-2 in a crowded ACC. The only teams who performed better in the conference were Duke and Louisville (the latter via tiebreaker). After a February 4 loss to Georgia Tech, Clemson closed the regular season on an eight-game win streak then took out SMU in the ACC Tournament. The Tigers were bounced by Louisville in the next game however, then suffered a stunning First Round upset loss versus McNeese State in the national tournament.

This season the Tigers had plenty of work to do before the opener. Head coach Brad Brownell retained just three players (only one of which played last year) from the 2024-25 squad, so we’ll be seeing plenty of new faces on the court. They’ll mesh with former backup point guard Dillon Hunter, who figures to have a sizable role in the Clemson offense this year.

Matchup/League Facts

New Hampshire ranked 356th among Division 1 teams for points per possession last season (0.96).

New Hampshire vs Clemson Prediction

I’ll probably just stay with Clemson here. The Tigers have been models of consistency lately, notching at least 23 wins in each of the last three seasons—including 27 in 2024-25, which was a school record. Granted, there’s an abnormal amount of newcomers to work with this season, and there are bound to be some growing pains in the early-going. Make no mistakes, though: Clemson still has plenty of talent on the roster.

As for New Hampshire, they have a pretty good shot at improving over last year’s rough finish if they can avoid the injury bug and play at an up-tempo pace most of the time. The Wildcats’ scoring offense posted a spotty 66.4 PPG last year though, so there’s plenty of work to be done. For now I don’t think they’ll catch the Tigers cover-wise.
