Nevada Wolf Pack Betting Preview
Nevada has cruised through three games so far this year, with the first being a 77-50 win over Louisiana Tech last Tuesday. The Wolf Pack’s leading scorer in that opener victory was Chuck Bailey with 24 points, four rebounds and two assists. The only other player in double-figures was Tayshawn Comer with 10 points and five rebounds. In game two versus Pacific, Nevada had a 38-37 second half on the way to eking out a 78-77 win. Joel Armotrading doubled up on 11 points and 15 rebounds, as did Elijah Price with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Rolison added 14 points with five rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes during the victory.
In game three versus Southern Illinois on Wednesday, Nevada played their tightest game yet. The Wolf Pack needed overtime to power out an 86-81 win. Topping the scoring for Nevada was Tayshawn Comer with 23 points and seven assists. Corey Camper put up 20 points with seven rebounds, and Elijah Price went off for 17 points and 19 rebounds in 37 minutes during the winning effort. Joel Armotrading added 11 points with five rebounds in 26 minutes as well.
Santa Clara Broncos Betting Preview
Over on the Santa Clara side, they had a pretty easy matchup in their opener last Wednesday, taking on Cal Poly Humboldt. The Broncos were up by 20 at the half, then hit a 38-28 run the rest of the way toward an 83-53 win. Elijah Mahi led the way on 14 points with three rebounds and three assists, while Thierry Darlan doubled up on 13 points and 13 boards. Jake Ensminger had 12 points with five rebounds and four assists in the blowout win as well. Santa Clara was able to keep it going in game two versus McNeese State, but this one was closer. The Broncos scored 37 points in the first half and 42 more from there in a 79-67 victory. Both Elijah Mahi (four rebounds; two assists) and Sash Gavalyugov (three rebounds) scored 19 points apiece, while Allen Graves had 13 rebounds with six points in the winning effort.
In game three versus Xavier on Monday, Santa Clara chalked up another win. The Broncos took a 39-20 edge into the second half and kept the pace from there on 48 more points in an 87-68 victory. Elijah Mahi was tops on 18 points with two rebounds and three assists this time, and Christian Hammond had 15 points with three rebounds and two assists. Allen Graves managed to double up with 10 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in just 16 minutes.

- Nevada has won each of its last five games against non-Conference opponents.
Nevada vs Santa Clara Prediction
I’ll stick with the Broncos. Santa Clara is looking good through three games so far this year, and they’ll be a tough matchup on Saturday. The Broncos didn’t have a ton of issues versus Xavier, blasting the Musketeers on the boards (37-25) and in the paint (52-22) along with 54.7 percent shooting, 17 assists, 11 blocks and 10 steals. Santa Clara held Xavier to just 33.9 percent shooting on the other side as well. If the Broncos can keep that up in any meaningful capacity, it’ll be hard for Nevada to find a whole lot of daylight in this weekend’s game.
