The only team player to land in double-figures there was Trey Deveaux with 15 points and six boards in 33 minutes. In their second outing against Bucknell, Mount St. Mary’s posted another loss, this time 73-62. Tops in scoring was Luke McEldon with 21 points and eight rebounds in 31 minutes. The Mountaineers’ Patrick Haigh was the leader this time with 15 points and three boards over 23 minutes. Mount St. Mary’s took another loss versus Cincinnati in game four. Despite leading at the break, the Mountaineers limped to a 72-55 result after a bad second half. Leading the way was Xavier Lipscomb with 14 points, eight boards and four assists. Trey Deveaux added 11 points and two boards.

In their last outing versus Maryland on Wednesday, the Mountaineers overcame a 40-32 halftime deficit to force overtime, but eventually lost 95-90 in a tough road outcome. Arlandus Keyes was the team’s leading scorer with his 22 points, and Xavier Lipscomb added 17 points with five assists and six rebounds. Trey Deveaux put up 13 points with five rebounds and four assists over 31 minutes in the losing effort as well.

Mount St. Mary’s vs Western Michigan Prediction

I’m probably just going to stick with Mount St. Mary’s. The Mountaineers played a plucky second half on the road versus Maryland this week but fell just short. Mount St. Mary’s would end up shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 47.2 percent (17-of-36) from 3-point range alongside a 35-33 rebounding edge and a 26-16 advantage in the paint. The biggest trouble was the 17 turnovers, and the Mountaineers missed a handful of free throws as well (11-of-16 for 68.8 percent). Still, it was a strong effort against a much higher-profile team. Mount St. Mary’s has a few scoring duds in the books this year; they’ve been below 63 points in three of five games. If the Mountaineers can manage a 70-plus total here though, I think they’ll be fine.
