The Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Oregon Ducks meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene. Here’s a Minnesota vs Oregon prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Minnesota vs Oregon pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.
Minnesota Golden Gophers Betting Preview
The Gophers posted a 5-5 run over their first 10 games, then hit a five-game win streak. Minnesota would bottom out on a tough 1-8 stretch over the next nine outings. Those defeats were against USC, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn State and Maryland. In their first 24 games of the season, the Gophers put an 11-13 record into the books.
In game 25 versus Washington on Saturday the Gophers were in trouble in the locker room, facing a 39-26 deficit on the scoreboard. Minnesota couldn’t make much headway in a comeback bid from there, hitting a 31-30 advantage in the second half during an eventual 69-57 loss on the road. Tops in scoring was Cade Tyson with 22 points, nine rebounds and two assists in 40 minutes.
Oregon Ducks Betting Preview
Over on the Ducks’ side, they lost five of their first nine games this year then won four of the next five versus UC Davis, Portland, Omaha and Maryland. Losses to Rutgers, Ohio State, Nebraska, Michigan, Michigan State, Washington, UCLA, Iowa, Purdue and Indiana came after that. Across their first 24 outings this year, that would give the Ducks an 8-16 run for their troubles.
Matched up against Penn State last weekend the Ducks weren’t looking too bad by the break, taking a 38-32 lead into the locker room. Oregon kept it up in the second half on a 45-40 run and took the victory on their home floor 83-72. Both Nate Bittle (seven rebounds; five assists) and TK Simpkins (five rebounds; two assists) each had 22 points for the Ducks in the winning effort.

Minnesota vs Oregon Prediction
I’ll lean toward Oregon. The Ducks did a pretty good job at home last weekend versus a middling Penn State team, hitting a nice 50 percent from the field with 51.9 percent (14-of-27) from outside and 84 percent (21-of-25) at the line. The only real blemishes were the 26-20 rebounding deficit and the 14 turnovers. Oregon finally halted an ugly 10-game losing streak with the victory, but they’ve given up 72 or more points in nine of their last 11 outings.
As for Minnesota, they gave up a whopping 63 percent shooting from the field in their loss to Washington and got out-rebounded 27-18. The 44-26 deficit on points in the paint didn’t help either. The Gophers have won just one of their last 10 games and they’ve scored fewer than 63 points in consecutive outings.
