Maryland Terrapins Betting Preview
Maryland opened up the season on a nice run this year, but they’ve taken a couple of losses in some tough matchups lately. The Terrapins were 5-1 after their first six games, with a lone loss to Georgetown mixed in there. Otherwise it was all victories over Coppin State, Alcorn State, Marquette, Mount St. Mary’s and UNLV. Consecutive losses to Gonzaga and Alabama followed, then the Terrapins took out Wagner this week. That gives Maryland a 6-3 run across their first nine outings of the season.
In the Wagner game on Tuesday, the Terrapins kicked things off with a 33-26 first half. After 56 more points from there, Maryland had an 89-63 win. Leading team scorer Pharrel Payne finished with 30 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Myles Rice had 16 points and four boards. Darius Adams added 12 points with six rebounds alongside a pair of assists in 25 minutes of work on the court for Maryland in the win.
Iowa Hawkeyes Betting Preview
Over on the Iowa side, they opened the season with a nice win streak. Over their first seven outings, the Hawkeyes dispatched Robert Morris, Western Illinois, Xavier, Southeast Missouri State, Chicago State, Ole Miss and Grand Canyon in succession. The streak was broken with a loss to Michigan State this past week. Over eight games so far, that makes a 7-1 overall record for the Hawkeyes this season.
Matched up against Michigan State on Tuesday, the Hawkeyes were down by 14 points at the break. Iowa got better from there but still limped to a 71-52 loss. The only player on the team to finish in double-figures was Bennett Stirtz with 14 points, four assists and two rebounds. Braden Hausen added seven points while Cam Manyawu had six points and six rebounds in the losing effort for the Hawkeyes.

Maryland vs Iowa Prediction
I’ll take a stab on the Hawkeyes. Iowa needs a good bounce back after getting demolished by a great Michigan State team at Breslin Center in their last outing, though. The Hawkeyes shot just 37.8 percent from the field in that one with a 33-15 rebounding deficit, 11 turnovers and a 34-18 disadvantage on points in the paint. Iowa has now finished below 60 points in consecutive games, so it’d be nice to see them notch a big total in this one.
As for Maryland, they didn’t have too many issues versus Wagner in their last game despite shooting a tepid 40.6 percent from the field and 25 percent (5-of-20) from outside. The Terrapins did post 44 rebounds in the blowout win though, and had just eight turnovers along the way. Maryland has reached 72 or more points in six of the last seven games, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them score well on Saturday either.
