Marquette Golden Eagles Betting Preview

The Marquette Golden Eagles enter Saturday’s contest with a 5–4 win‑loss record, including a 5–2 mark at home (0-2 on the road). The Golden Eagles have compiled wins over Albany, Southern, Little Rock, Central Michigan, and Valparaiso, while losing games to Indiana, Maryland, Dayton and the Oklahoma Sooners. In the Marquette Golden Eagles impressive 75–72 overtime win over Valparaiso three days ago, Marquette guard Nigel James Jr. tallied 21 points on 7 of 16 shooting from the field and 1 of 2 shooting from beyond the arc.

The Marquette Golden Eagles average 81.4 points on 42.6 percent shooting from the field and 31.4 percent shooting from three‑point range per game. Defensively, the Golden Eagles are allowing opponents 74.2 points on 43.7 percent shooting from the field per game.

Senior guard Chase Ross leads the Golden Eagles with 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. Freshman guard Nigel James Jr. adds 12.3 points and 3.7 assists per game, while junior guard Zaide Lowery contributes 9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Senior forward Ben Gold provides interior presence with 9.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per contest.

Wisconsin Badgers Betting Preview

The Wisconsin Badgers enter Saturday’s matchup with a 6–2 record, including a perfect 5–0 record at home. The Badgers have amassed wins over Campbell, Northern Illinois, Ball State, SIU‑Edwardsville, Northwestern and the Providence Friars, while dropping games to BYU and the TCU Horned Frogs. In the Wisconsin Badgers 85–73 win over the Northwestern Wildcats two days ago, Wisconsin guard John Blackwell scored 26 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals.

The Wisconsin Badgers average 86.9 points on 45.1 percent shooting from the field and 33.3 percent shooting from the three‑point line per game. The Badgers are allowing opponents 73.5 points per game.

Senior guard Nick Boyd leads the Wisconsin Badgers with 20.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 3.3 assists per game. Junior guard John Blackwell adds 19.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals a contest. Sophomore forward Austin Rapp provides 10.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Nolan Winter anchors the paint with 13.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

Why the Marquette Golden Eagles Will Win

•            Senior guard Chase Ross is averaging 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4 assists per game.

•            Backcourt depth. James Jr. and Lowery provide secondary scoring and playmaking.

•            Perimeter shooting. Marquette has multiple guards capable of hitting shots from three-point range.

Why the Wisconsin Badgers Will Win

•            Home dominance. The Wisconsin Badgers are unbeaten (5-0) at the Kohl Center this season.

•            Star power. Boyd and Blackwell form one of the Big Ten’s most productive backcourts.

•            Rebounding edge. Sophomore forward Nolan Winter controls the glass averaging 9.4 rebounds per game.

Marquette Golden Eagles vs. Wisconsin Badgers Prediction

This game matches up two teams with contrasting styles. The Marquette Golden Eagles want to beat you with the team’s talented backcourt while the Wisconsin Badgers present a more balanced scoring team.

I fully expect the Golden Eagles to lean on Chase Ross and Nigel James Jr. for perimeter scoring, while Wisconsin will look to Boyd and Blackwell to set the tone and pace. Marquette’s defense has been inconsistent at times in 2025. The Badgers ability to rebound and hit shots from the perimeter should give them the edge. With that said, I think Marquette keeps the game close. I am backing the Marquette Golden Eagles plus the 10.5 points in this one.
