The Mountain Hawks kicked off their 2025-26 campaign with a tough, tough road matchup versus Houston on Monday. Lehigh vs West Virginia Prediction
I’ll take a stab on West Virginia here, but I’m not touching it. The Mountaineers’ two wins against overmatched teams so far haven’t exactly been crazy blowouts, and there’s plenty to improve upon. WVU had a 33-25 rebounding deficit in their opener versus Mount St. Mary’s, not to mention 23-of-35 (65.7 percent) from the line, 5-of-18 (27.8 percent) from 3-point range and a slim 30-26 edge in the paint. In the Campbell game the Mountaineers were once again outmuscled on the glass 36-34 and in the paint 34-26. The Camels’ rough 2-of-14 (14.3 percent) from 3-point range prevented game two from being an upset home loss for West Virginia. They’ve got to get more aggressive up front—not to mention find more high-percentage shots.
As for Lehigh, they’re coming off a pretty simple game versus Valley Forge, and they played pretty well against a tough Houston team in the second half of their opener—on the road, no less. The Mountain Hawks have a good opportunity here to at least stay competitive versus West Virginia. Lehigh needs to get off to a fast start though, and pressure the Mountaineers under the basket. You wouldn’t be crazy taking the Mountain Hawks in this one.
