Iona Gaels Betting Preview

The Gaels’ season has been a pretty futile one so far. Iona lost to Princeton, Hofstra, and Delaware in their first three outings. After finally getting a win over Vermont, Iona dropped their next pair to West Virginia and Cornell.

In the Cornell game on Monday, the Gaels were within six points at halftime. That’s as close as Iona got, however, as they hit a 39-29 run from there for an 84-68 result. DeJour Reaves led the team in the losing effort with 19 points and five boards.

Tarleton State Texans Betting Preview

Over on the Tarleton State side, they also lost their first three games. Those defeats came courtesy of SMU, Sam Houston, and Florida State. After a win over Tabor, the Texans fell to Baylor and Michigan in the next two.

Tarleton State didn’t stand much chance against Michigan. The Texans were down by a score of 40-30 by halftime, then closed on a 32-19 deficit for a 72-49 blowout loss. Bubu Benjamin was tops on the team in scoring with 15 points.

I’ll lean toward Iona. There’s not a whole lot to get excited about here if you’re not a fan of either team, though. The Gaels have had it pretty rough so far this year, scoring 68 or fewer points in each of their last four games. Iona has given up 81 or more points in four of six total outings as well. The good news is that Iona may be able to hang a solid amount of points on a struggling Tarleton State team here.

Speaking of the Texans, they’ve gotten blitzed by good teams in their last two outings and have failed to surpass 62 points in five of their six games this year. At least some of that is due to the caliber of teams that Tarleton State has played, however, so this will be a pretty good gauge of their standing this year. I’m leaning toward Iona cover-wise in this one, but I’m probably not touching it in reality.
