The Holy Cross Crusaders and the Lehigh Mountain Hawks meet Thursday in Patriot League Tournament college basketball action from Stabler Arena in Bethlehem. Here’s a Holy Cross vs Lehigh prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Holy Cross vs Lehigh pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.
Holy Cross Crusaders Betting Preview
The Crusaders were sitting at a tepid 8-10 overall in their first 18 games, then took losses to Lafayette, Navy, American U, Colgate, Army and Boston U before a win over Lehigh. Losses in the next six came versus Colgate, Loyola MD, Lafayette, Boston U and Loyola MD again (with a win over Bucknell). After a win over Lafayette this week the Crusaders are 11-21 this year.
On Tuesday versus Lafayette, the Crusaders managed to power out a victory 82-77 to keep their season alive. Holy Cross was led by Gabe Warren with 23 points and nine rebounds while Aiden Disu added 16 points with four boards. Tyler Boston had 17 points with nine rebounds and 14 assists for a double-double in the victory effort.
Lehigh Mountain Hawks Betting Preview
Over on the Lehigh side, they got through their first 23 games this year on a sub-.500 clip at 10-13 overall. In the month of February the Mountain Hawks got a bit better, taking a 5-3 run over eight games. Those wins came courtesy of American U, Lafayette, Boston U, American U again and Bucknell. Over 31 games total so far this year that gives the Mountain Hawks a 15-16 run in the books.
Back on Saturday versus Bucknell, the Mountain Hawks were coming back out onto the floor after the break with a 47-40 edge. Lehigh added a 42-39 run the rest of the way, eventually powering out a nice 89-79 win on their home court in the end. Nasir Whitlock led the team with his 32 points and seven assists while Hank Alvey chipped in with 22 points and five boards.
Holy Cross vs Lehigh Prediction
I’ll just stick with Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks dispatched a struggling Bucknell team without too much difficulty in their last game, shooting a cool 58.8 percent from the field with 52.4 percent (11-of-21) from outside and 94.7 percent (18-of-19) from the line. Lehigh added a 28-23 rebounding edge but also gave up 50.8 percent shooting on defense and had 14 turnovers. The Hawks are 5-1 in their last six games though, and playing pretty well.
These teams split the season series, with the home team getting a win each time. Lehigh took it 66-58 on January 7, and Holy Cross returned the favor 76-67 on February 7. In that most recent meeting the Mountain Hawks shot a nice 50 percent from the field but hit just 15 percent (3-of-20) from outside and 60 percent (6-of-10) at the line alongside a 30-27 rebounding edge. This one should be a pretty competitive matchup as well, but I’m leaning toward Lehigh.
