Georgia State Panthers Betting Preview
This year the Panthers started out on a reasonable run, then hit a rough stretch in late November before righting the ship early this calendar year. Georgia State began with a 4-3 stretch with losses to Mississippi State, Jacksonville State, and Austin Peay among wins over Ball State, Toccoa Falls, NC Central, and Tulsa. A losing streak versus Kentucky, Kennesaw State, Charlotte, Auburn, Troy, Mercer, and South Alabama came next, then three straight wins over Louisiana, Georgia Southern, and Coastal Carolina. The Panthers halted that run versus Texas State, leaving them with a 7-11 overall record through the first 18 games of the year.
In the Texas State matchup on Wednesday, the Panthers came out of the gate with a 46-35 deficit. Georgia State didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 48-45 stretch and lost 94-80 in the end. Leading team scorer Cesare Edwards finished with 27 points, four rebounds, and four blocks. Toneari Lane added 25 points with four assists and two rebounds, while Zarique Nutter led the bench scorers with seven points and three rebounds.
Arkansas State Red Wolves Betting Preview
Over on the Arkansas State side, they’ve been a pretty darn consistent team so far this year, with only two instances of consecutive losses overall. The Red Wolves went 5-3 in their first eight with wins over Akron, Little Rock, Stephen F. Austin, Lane College, and Indiana State among losses to Alabama, Rice, and Hofstra. A win streak over Jackson State, Memphis, TX-Arlington, UAB, Coastal Carolina, and Old Dominion came after that, then losses to James Madison and South Alabama. In their last two outings, the Red Wolves have tackled Troy and Louisiana, giving them a solid 13-5 overall record through 18 games so far this season.
Matched up against Louisiana back on Thursday, the Red Wolves emerged from the locker room sporting a dominant 44-24 edge. Arkansas State kept the pace in the second half on a 39-39 run and took the easy win 83-63. Kobe Julien was the top team scorer with 15 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Terrance Ford (six assists; five rebounds) and Joseph Pinion (eight rebounds; five assists) each scored 13 points in the victory as well.

Georgia State vs Arkansas State Prediction
I’ll lean toward Arkansas State. The Red Wolves are looking good these days, and coming off a nice effort against a struggling Louisiana team. Arkansas State shot 44.3 percent from the field with a 45-42 rebounding edge in that one, posting just six turnovers along the way. Defensively the Red Wolves held the Cajuns to just 35.3 percent shooting overall. Arkansas State has scored a combined 167 points across their last two games, a solid turnaround from the 124 combined across a pair of road losses this month.
As for Georgia State, they were pretty permissive against Texas State in their latest loss with 50.7 percent shooting allowed and a 44-31 rebounding disadvantage. The Panthers are scoring well during this 3-1 run though, with 79 or more points in all four games. I like a reasonably high-scoring finish here with an Arkansas State win/cover in the end.
