George Mason Patriots Betting Preview
The Patriots opened up the year with a middling run, but they’ve done quite well since mid-November. George Mason went just 2-3 in their first five outings with wins over NC Central and Stony Brook alongside losses to Marquette, Central Michigan, and East Carolina. After taking a winning streak over Coppin State, Ferrum, James Madison, UNC Asheville, and Tulane, the Patriots fell to Duke. Since then it’s been a 5-1 stretch in the last six outings. The lone loss came to Rhode Island. Otherwise, it was victories over Penn, Mount St. Mary’s, Davidson, Richmond, and UMass in that time for a 12-5 overall record through the first 17 games of the year.
In the UMass game back on Saturday, the Patriots went into the break sporting a 36-32 edge. George Mason kept it going in the second half with a 41-38 run for a 77-70 victory in the end. Leading the team in scoring during the win was Darius Maddox with 18 points and three rebounds. Brayden O’Connor put up 11 points with three rebounds and three assists. Both Jared Billups (six rebounds) and KD Johnson (four assists) came off the bench for 10 points.
Dayton Flyers Betting Preview
Over on the Dayton side, they took out St. Francis PA, Northwestern, Ball State, Capital, and New Mexico State before consecutive losses to North Carolina and Iowa State. The Flyers would jump right back into a winning streak after that, dispatching UConn, Western Michigan, Lehigh, Marquette, and UNLV in the next five outings. Since then it’s been a tough 1-3 stretch for the Flyers, however. Dayton has a lone win over La Salle in that time with losses otherwise versus Cincinnati, George Washington, and UMass for an 11-5 overall record so far this year.
Matched up against UMass last Wednesday, the Flyers entered halftime holding a 39-36 lead. Dayton faded in the second half though, hitting a 40-33 run for a 76-72 defeat by the final horn. Nate Santos led the way with 18 points with three rebounds, and Javon Bennett added 17 points with two boards and two assists. Zed Key put up 16 points with three rebounds and one assist, while Posh Alexander came off the bench for eight points and two steals in 23 minutes.

George Mason vs Dayton Prediction
I’ll probably stay with George Mason here. This should be a pretty fun matchup regardless though, so you could call it either way. The Patriots played pretty well at home versus UMass in their last outing, hitting 49 percent from the field with a nice 43-26 rebounding edge. The only major issue (outside of the 23-of-35 from the line) was the 17 turnovers for 25 Minutemen points. George Mason has to be more careful with the ball on Wednesday. The Patriots have been below 65 points in three of the last five games as well (a 4-1 run) so they’ve got to keep that shooting percentage up as well.
As for Dayton, they shot just 38 percent in their loss to UMass and got beat on the glass 38-26. George Mason needs to keep this one physical and maintain pressure in rebounding. If they can control the pace well, I like the Patriots to power one out here.
