Florida Gulf Coast Eagles Betting Preview
The Eagles hit the skids right out of the gate this year, resulting in a rough record initially. FGCU has looked much better since late December, though. In their first 11 games, the Eagles lost to UNC Greensboro, TCU, St. Bonaventure, Drake, Northeastern, Furman, LSU, and UNC Wilmington with wins over only Cal State Bakersfield, FIU, and Florida Atlantic. Since then, however, FGCU is 8-2 with losses to only Queens U and Eastern Kentucky. The wins otherwise have come courtesy of Florida Tech, Richmond, West Georgia, North Alabama, Central Arkansas, West Georgia again, Queens U, and Bellarmine for an 11-10 overall record so far.
In the EKU matchup over the weekend, the Eagles hit a 39-37 advantage in the first half. Florida Gulf Coast was outscored 44-38 the rest of the way in an eventual loss of 81-77, though. Leading the team in scoring was Kevin Muniz, who notched 18 points with six rebounds and seven assists in the losing effort. Dallion Johnson added 16 points with two rebounds, and Rahmir Barno came off the bench to provide 15 points with seven assists and six boards.
Jacksonville Dolphins Betting Preview
Over on the Jacksonville side, they kicked the season off on a sub .500 run through their first 13 games. The Dolphins have recovered nicely on a winning streak since then, though. During a 6-7 opening stretch, Jacksonville beat Trinity Baptist, South Carolina State, Virginia Tech, Siena, Florida Tech, and East Tennessee State. The losses came versus Florida, Furman, Mercer, Georgia, Florida Atlantic, UCF, and Lipscomb otherwise. Since then Jacksonville has taken out Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Eastern Kentucky, North Alabama, Central Arkansas, West Georgia, and Queens U in succession, giving them a 13-7 record during this 2024-25 campaign.
Matched up against Queens on Saturday, the Dolphins hit a 43-36 advantage in the first half. Jacksonville kept it up from there on a 44-41 run and took the victory 87-77 in the end. Leading team scorer Robert McCray posted 24 points with five rebounds and four assists, while Jakari Spence had 16 points with seven rebounds and seven assists. Kendall Munson put up 16 points with six rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes off the bench as well.

Florida Gulf Coast vs Jacksonville Prediction
I’ll lean toward Jacksonville, but you could call this one either way. It should be a fun and competitive matchup. The Dolphins took care of a decent Queens U team pretty well in their last outing, shooting a nice 48.3 percent from the field with a 44-34 rebounding edge and 18 team assists. the lone blemish was an ugly 16 turnover total, leading to 19 Royals points. Still, Jacksonville was able to extend their win streak to seven, and they’ve now scored 72 or more points in three straight games.
As for FGCU, their own win streak ended at five following the road loss to EKU. The Eagles have scored 75 or more points in nine of the last 10 games though, so they should be able to notch a nice total here as well. In the end, I like Jacksonville but it’s a coin flip.
