Bethune-Cookman Wildcats Betting Preview

Bethune-Cookman had another middling season in 2024-25, going 17-16 overall with a much better 13-5 run in SWAC games. That result put B-CU in third place among the standings, behind only Southern and Jackson State. Bethune-Cookman went into the postseason on a five-game win streak, then took out Alcorn State in the first round of the conference tourney. In the semifinals however, the Wildcats fell to Jackson State 71-50 on March 14.

The Wildcats have one game under their collective belt this year, and it was a tough road matchup versus Auburn on Monday. Bethune-Cookman stood tall in that one though, forcing overtime with a 44-43 advantage in the second half. In the end however, the Wildcats took a 95-90 loss. Quentin Heady was tops in scoring with 21 points in 33 minutes, and Arterio Morris had 20 points with 10 rebounds for a double-double. Daniel Rouzan added 16 points with six rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes of work on the floor in the overtime defeat.

Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview

Over on the Hurricanes’ side, they’re coming off a forgettable season in 2024-25. Miami limped to a 7-24 overall record and went just 3-17 in a tricky ACC. The result was a last-place finish in the conference standings, one game behind Boston College and a whopping 16 games behind leader Duke. Due to the new ACC Tournament rules, Miami didn’t get an invite to the conference tourney. Following a six-game losing streak in February and March, Miami’s season ended with a win over NC State 72-70.

The Hurricanes also have a game in the books this season. That one came Monday versus Jacksonville. Miami held a modest six-point lead at the break, but then hit a 45-34 run the rest of the way toward an 86-69 victory. All five starters finished in double-digits, with Malik Reneau leading the pack on 20 points in 28 minutes. Ernest Udeh posted a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Shelton Henderson had 15 points in 17 minutes. Tru Washington chipped in 12 points with four rebounds and four assists as well.

Bethune-Cookman vs Miami Prediction

I’m going to try Bethune-Cookman in this one. The Wildcats nearly shocked Auburn in their opener during a tough road matchup but in the end they fell just short. B-CU ended up shooting 50.7 percent from the field and 12-of-22 (54.5 percent) from 3-point range. The major statistical difference was the Wildcats nine free throws (with eight made) to the Tigers’ 38 (with 27 made). All things considered it was a great effort by Bethune-Cookman.

As for Miami, they started a bit slowly versus Jacksonville but ended up shooting a nice 55.1 percent from the field with a 30-19 rebounding advantage. The 3-point shooting (3-of-14 for 21.4 percent) wasn’t great though, and the Hurricanes gave up 15 turnovers. This is another winnable home game for Miami, but they’ve got to sharpen up and push B-CU down early. The Wildcats got a confidence boost from their solid performance versus Auburn this week.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Bethune-Cookman Wildcats +16.5
