Austin Peay Governors Betting Preview
Austin Peay has two games in the bag so far this season. The first was a rather routine opener matchup versus Bryan College. The Governors didn’t have any issues in that one, jumping out to a 69-25 halftime lead. After a 59-22 run the rest of the way Austin Peay had a 128-47 victory at home. Leading the scorers in the win was Tate McCubbin with 17 points, five assists and six rebounds. Tyler Wagner added 15 points in 15 minutes, and Anton Brookshire had 14 points with five assists and one rebound in 16 minutes of work on the court for the Governors.
In their second outing of the season versus Air Force back on Saturday, Austin Peay played a closer game—but it was still a blowout victory. The Governors were up 33-22 by halftime then closed on a 41-32 stretch on the way to a 74-54 win on the road. Tate McCubbin put up 19 points with five assists and four rebounds this time, and Anton Brookshire had 16 points and two boards in 24 minutes of work. Zyree Collins also managed to get himself into double-figures during the 20-point win, notching 14 points with two assists in 17 minutes of work.

Over on the Wyoming side, they’ve also got a pair of games in the books so far for the 2025-26 season. The Cowboys’ opening matchup came last Monday versus Northern State. Wyoming held a 10-point edge by the break and didn’t look back on a 49-35 second half during a 99-75 victory in the end. Tops in scoring was Nasir Meyer with 19 points, six rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes of action on the floor. Khaden Bennett put up 14 points with seven boards and three assists, while Damarion Dennis had 11 points and two rebounds in 20 minutes. Matlja Belic chipped in with 10 points and two boards in 16 minutes as well.
In game two back on Saturday Wyoming got another win, however this one was closer. The Cowboys took a 38-38 tie with CSU Fullerton into the locker room but then closed on a 54-44 run on the way to a 92-82 win in the end. Tops in scoring was Nasir Meyer with 18 points, five boards and four assists. Damarion Dennis notched 16 points and three rebounds, while Khaden Bennett also finished in double-digits with 15 points, five boards and two assists.

I’ll take a stab on Austin Peay in this one. The Governors didn’t have too many issues with a struggling Air Force team in a road win during their last appearance. Austin Peay put up 48.1 percent shooting with a 30-22 edge in the paint and 15 team assists. There’s still plenty to clean up however, including the 17-of-29 (58.6 percent) from the free throw line, the 17 turnovers and the 37-29 deficit on the boards. That said, Austin Peay is looking pretty good after a couple of early wins versus overmatched opponents. Tuesday’s game will give us a better idea of where the team stands right now, though. The Governors will have to get active up front and try to beat Wyoming on the boards.
