App State Mountaineers Betting Preview
The Mountaineers have had their ups and downs in the record column so far this year, and they’re sitting on a couple of consecutive losses right now. App State opened the season on a 2-2 run with losses to Central Michigan and Ohio State sandwiched around wins versus Carolina University and North Carolina Central. The Mountaineers would then win consecutive games over Dartmouth and Charlotte. The most recent pair, however, have both been losses versus Elon and Mercer. That gives App State an even 4-4 record across their first eight outings so far this season.
In their latest matchup versus Mercer on Wednesday, App State came out of the break with a 29-26 advantage. The Mountaineers were outscored 49-38 in the second half however, leading to a 75-67 loss in the end. Tops in scoring was Kasen Jennings with 16 points, four assists and two rebounds, while Alonzo Dodd had 11 points with six boards and two assists. Luke Wilson chipped in 10 points with four boards in 21 minutes of work as well.
UNC Asheville Bulldogs Betting Preview
Over on the UNC Asheville side, they’ve only got a couple of wins in the bag so far this year. The Bulldogs opened up with consecutive losses versus Wichita State and Georgia Southern, then beat Lipscomb and Bryan TN in their next pair to pull back to .500 on the year. Since then however, UNC Asheville has fallen versus Western Carolina and Tennessee State. In total that makes for a 2-4 record across the Bulldogs’ first half-dozen outings this season.
Matched up against Tennessee State in the Tuesday game, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 40-34 edge by halftime. UNC Asheville was outpaced 41-33 in the second half however, and ended up losing 75-73 in a tough outcome. Leading the way was Kameron Taylor with 23 points, three rebounds and two assists. Toyaz Solomon added 21 points and nine rebounds while Justin Wright had 20 points with two boards and two assists.

App State vs UNC Asheville Prediction
I might take a stab on UNC Asheville here. The Bulldogs didn’t play terribly versus a middling Tennessee State team in their last outing—besides the 22 turnovers and 18-of-28 (64.3 percent) from the line, that is. Had those two areas been even slightly better, UNC Asheville would be well on their way to crawling back to .500 in the record column. The team did shoot well (58.1 percent) but got outscored in the paint 40-30 and had just nine team assists. The Bulldogs do have a nice 69 or more points in five straight games, though.
As for App State, they got blasted in the second half by Mercer and didn’t shoot well (4-of-21 for 19 percent) from outside. The Mountaineers have been below 68 points in three straight games now, so this matchup could go a lot of different ways. It’ll be an interesting game.
