App State vs Auburn Prediction
I might take a stab on Appalachian State here. The Mountaineers fared pretty well in their opener win over Merrimack last week, posting a 14-point victory on 42 percent shooting and a 42-30 rebounding edge. App State gave up just 35 percent shooting on the other side but also coughed up 14 turnovers and went a tepid 65 percent (13-of-20) at the line. In game two the Mountaineers recorded another victory, this time in blowout fashion versus an overmatched Christendom squad. Appalachian State shot 54 percent from the field in that one with 38 percent (15-of-39) from outside, a 54-20 rebounding advantage and just eight turnovers. The Mountaineers were pretty tepid from the line again, notching just 60 percent on 9-of-15 there (it was a heavy bench game, however). Needless to say, game three will be App State’s toughest matchup yet. If they can keep that shooting percentage elevated however, I like the Mountaineers to bang out a cover.
As for Auburn, they didn’t have too many issues in their first and only game so far this year, a 33-point victory over SE Louisiana. The Tigers shot 51 percent from the field while holding the opposition to just 30 percent on defense. More of that in this matchup will put Auburn in a good spot.

The Mountaineers have two games in the can so far and they’ve been able to record victories in both of them. App State’s first matchup was last Monday versus Merrimack at Rock Hill Sports & Event Center in Rock Hill. That one was a 63-49 victory thanks in part to lead scorer Jaylen colon’s 14 points and four rebounds. Both Ted Neal (five rebounds; four assists) and Ben Kopetzki (five rebounds; two assists) added 12 points apiece in the win.
In game two versus Christendom on November 4 at Holmes Convocation Center in Boone, App State recorded another victory 108-43. Leading the charge this time was Mason Costello, who came off the bench to provide 15 points and three boards in 16 minutes of work. Jaylen Colon led the starters with nine points, five rebounds and five assists in 13 minutes.
Auburn Tigers Betting Preview
Over on the Auburn side, they managed to go a pretty solid 22-16 overall last year with a 7-11 showing in a tough, tough Southeastern Conference. The Tigers finished ahead of only Mississippi State, South Carolina, Ole Miss and LSU with that effort. Auburn lost to Tennessee in their second game of the SEC Tournament, but then took out South Alabama, Seattle, Nevada, Illinois State and Tulsa on the way to an NIT championship.
In their opener game versus SE Louisiana at Neville Arena last Wednesday, Auburn cruised to a comfy 92-59 win. Leading the charge in that one was Tahaad Pettiford with 18 points, four assists and two rebounds for the Tigers.
