Air Force Falcons Betting Preview

Last year the Falcons had a forgettable campaign—to put it mildly. Air Force failed to equal (or even get close to) their 9-22 run from the 2023-24 season, going just 4-28 overall with an abysmal 1-19 run in the Mountain West. Needless to say, this put Air Force in the basement of the conference standings. The Falcons managed wins over only Jacksonville State, Mercyhurst and Stony Brook in non-conference play, then could only muster one more win over Fresno State in OT on February 22. In the first game of the Mountain West Tournament, Air Force took a 68-59 loss to end their season on March 12.

Coming into the 2025-26 campaign, there’s almost nowhere to go but up for the Falcons. They’ll be led by Joe Scott in his 10th year at the helm, and he’ll have his hands full trying to bring Air Force toward relevancy. Luke Kearney is gone, taking his 8.9 PPG (second on the team) with him to Utah State. The team’s top returning scorer is junior Wesley Celichowski (8.7 PPG) and he’ll have sixth man Caleb Walker back on the floor with him. It’s a young, inexperienced group to be sure.

Belmont Bruins Betting Preview

Over on the Belmont side, they put together a pretty good overall run last season, improving over the 2023-24 year by two games. The Bruins finished 22-11 overall and 13-7 in the Missouri Valley Conference. That would put Belmont in fourth place among the standings behind Drake, Bradley and Northern Iowa. The Bruins had a spotty 4-5 run in January and February but closed with three straight wins at the end of the regular season. Belmont beat Illinois State in the first round of the conference tournament before falling to Drake on March 8 to finish off their season for good.

This year the Bruins retain some important pieces in head coach Casey Alexander’s seventh year. Chief among them is Tyler Lundblade, who became a nationwide success story with 12.4 PPG and a .481 3-point percentage (tops in Division I) last season. The other of the two returning starters is Brigham Rogers, who notched 6.2 PPG and 3.9 RPG in 2024-25. Belmont also brings back a few veterans to fill out the roster, so the team should get off to a good start if the chemistry is still there.

Air Force vs Belmont Prediction

I’ll stay with Belmont, but I’m probably avoiding this one in reality. The Bruins have retained some big pieces from last year with Lundblade, Rogers, Sam Orme (9.5 PPG), Drew Scharnowski (5.5 PPG) and Aidan Noyes (4.3 PPG) back in the fold. The main goal for the team is a postseason tournament appearance, and they’ve got the goods to make that happen.

As for Air Force, they’re once again saddled with the difficult prospect of competing in the Mountain West in the transfer portal era. The Falcons have no seniors on the team, but a lighter (on paper) non-conference schedule should help generate a few wins before the more important games kick in. Air Force needs to get a lot more experience—and quickly.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Belmont Bruins -15.5
