NJIT Highlanders Betting Preview
It’s been a rough season for the Highlanders so far, with only a few scattered wins here and there. NJIT went just 2-9 over their first 11 games with wins over Morehead State and Navy. A 2-6 run came next with losses to Delaware State, Wagner, Washington, UMBC, UMass Lowell, and Maine among wins versus Medgar Evers and New Hampshire. A 1-9 run came next with a win over UMass Lowell among losses to Vermont, Albany, Bryant, Maine, New Hampshire, Bryant, Binghamton, UMBC, and Vermont. That gave the Highlanders a 5-24 run through their first 29 games of the year.Â
In their Saturday game versus Albany, the Highlanders were blitzed in the first half on a 50-32 deficit. NJIT didn’t get any closer than that on a 36-27 second-half run and ended up taking the loss 86-59. Tariq Francis was the only player on the team to finish in double-figures, logging 19 points with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 32 minutes of action.
Binghamton Bearcats Betting Preview
Over on the Binghamton side, they lost six of their first eight games before hitting a winning streak over LIU, Lafayette, Le Moyne, Lancaster Bible College, Mercyhurst, and Army. The Bearcats would beat only UMBC in the next seven, falling otherwise to Marist, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Albany, and Bryant. It’s been a 6-3 run since then with losses to Bryant, UMBC, and UMass Lowell among wins over Vermont, Albany, UMass Lowell, NJIT, New Hampshire, and Maine. That gives the Bearcats a 15-15 record across 30 games on the season so far.Â
Matched up against UMass Lowell over the weekend, Binghamton was pummeled 40-26 in the first half. The Bearcats didn’t get any closer from there on a 39-27 run and took the loss at the end 79-53. Leading the starters in scoring was Tymu Chenery with 11 points and three rebounds in 25 minutes of work. Evan Ashe came off the bench to add 11 points, two steals, and two rebounds in 26 minutes as well.Â
Why the Binghamton Bearcats will win

- Binghamton has won nine of its last 10 games against NJIT.

Why the NJIT Highlanders will win

NJIT vs Binghamton PredictionÂ
I’ll stay with Binghamton. Probably not touching this one though, as the Bearcats need a good bounce-back after a pretty sketchy weekend effort versus the River Hawks. In that one, Binghamton shot fairly well on 44 percent from the field and they weren’t too far behind in rebounding with a 27-24 deficit. The Bearcats allowed a whopping 61.1 percent shooting on the other side though, and coughed up 18 turnovers for 24 UMass Lowell points. The loss snaps a three-game win streak (with 71 or more points in each game) for the Bearcats, and the 53 points was their lowest total since hitting just 51 in a loss to Marist on December 29.Â
The Bearcats did manage to post a victory the last time these teams met up on February 15, but it took them overtime to power it out 75-71. Binghamton went a miserable 0-of-15 from 3-point range and had 15 turnovers for 10 Highlanders points, but the Bearcats did control the boards well 57-36. I’m not thrilled about Binghamton right now, but they’ve probably got a better shot at a cover here than the Highlanders do.Â
