Stetson Hatters Betting Preview
Aside from a brief run in January, Stetson has really struggled this year. The Hatters opened on a 2-12 stretch, taking wins over only New College FL, and Fort Lauderdale during that time. Stetson would win five of the next seven though, falling versus North Alabama and Queens U with wins over West Georgia, Central Arkansas, West Georgia again, Eastern Kentucky, and Bellarmine otherwise. A losing streak came next versus North Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Eastern Kentucky, Lipscomb, Austin Peay, North Florida, and Florida Gulf Coast in succession during the next eight though, giving the Hatters a rough 7-22 overall run.Â
In their Monday game versus Bellarmine, the Hatters were down by one point going into the second half. Stetson hit a 38-35 run the rest of the way, powering out the win at the end 69-67. Leading the team in scoring was Jamie Phelps with 17 points, three rebounds and three assists. Josh Massey added 12 points with five boards, and Mehki Ellison came off the bench for 14 points with three rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes of work on the floor.Â
Jacksonville Dolphins Betting Preview
Over on the Dolphins’ side, they’ve had a spotty year themselves but have managed to stay above the .500 mark thus far. Jacksonville kicked things off with a 6-7 run featuring wins over Trinity Baptist, South Carolina State, Virginia Tech, Siena, Florida Tech, and East Tennessee State. Wins over Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Eastern Kentucky, North Alabama, Central Arkansas, West Georgia, Queens U, Stetson, Bellarmine, and Central Arkansas came in the next 12 outings, then three straight losses to North Alabama, Florida Gulf Coast, and North Florida. That gave the Dolphins a 16-12 overall run through the first 28 games of the year.Â
Matched up against Eastern Kentucky on Monday, the Dolphins were up 32-28 by the break. Jacksonville hit a 27-27 run the rest of the way during a much-needed win 59-55. Leading the team in scoring was Robert McCray with 15 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. Zach Bell was also in double-figures with 12 points, four rebounds, and four steals, while Kent Jackson led the bench players with six points and two rebounds.Â

Stetson vs Jacksonville PredictionÂ
I’ll lean toward Jacksonville in this one but I’m probably staying away. The Dolphins finally got another win over Eastern Kentucky on Monday, but it wasn’t exactly pretty. Jacksonville put up just 39.2 percent shooting with 13-of-20 (65 percent) from the line in a pretty meager offensive showing. The 14 turnovers didn’t help, either. That makes fewer than 60 points in two of the last three games for the Dolphins. Stetson had given up 74 or more points in nine straight prior to their latest victory though, so Jacksonville may score fairly well here.Â
These teams last saw each other back on February 6 in a 74-65 road win for Jacksonville. The Dolphins shot 44.4 percent from the field in that one and had a 45-35 rebounding edge alongside just nine turnovers. Stetson didn’t play horribly themselves outside of the 36.8 percent shooting and 13 turnovers for 19 Dolphins points. I like Jacksonville to assert themselves in the home rematch and control this one as well.Â
