North Florida Ospreys Betting Preview
It’s been quite the choppy year for the Ospreys, but they’ve been able to stave off the .500 mark so far. North Florida kicked off with a 7-4 run featuring wins over South Carolina, Charleston Southern, Georgia Tech, Edward Waters, SIU Edwardsville, Warner, and UNC Greensboro, then took losses to UNC Asheville, Florida, Austin Peay, Lipscomb and Eastern Kentucky. The Ospreys would win six of the next eight over Bellarmine, Central Arkansas, Queens U, Stetson, Jacksonville, and Bellarmine. Following losses to Florida Gulf Coast, North Alabama, and Central Arkansas, North Florida took out Stetson and Jacksonville in the next pair for a 15-14 record through their first 29 games of the season.Â
In the Jacksonville matchup back on Thursday, the Ospreys opened on a 35-34 deficit in the first half. North Florida came back on a 43-38 run from there though, ultimately bagging the win 77-73 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Jasai Miles with 20 points, two boards, and three assists. Jaylen Smith (four rebounds; four assists) and Nate Literas (six rebounds; two steals; two blocks) each added 12 points as well.Â
Florida Gulf Coast Eagles Betting Preview
Over on the Florida Gulf Coast side, they didn’t start out so great this year but they’ve been fairly steady since late December. The Eagles went just 3-8 over their first 11 outings though, taking wins over only Cal State Bakersfield, Florida International, and Florida Atlantic. An 8-1 run followed with wins over Florida Tech, Richmond, West Georgia, North Alabama, Central Arkansas, West Georgia, Queens U, and Bellarmine. Since then it’s been a 5-4 stretch with wins over Jacksonville, Stetson, North Florida, Jacksonville, and Stetson in succession among losses to Eastern Kentucky (twice), Austin Peay, and Lipscomb. Through 29 games so far this year that gives the Eagles a 16-13 overall record.Â
Matched up against Stetson in their last game, the Eagles were trailing by a 37-33 margin in the locker room. Florida Gulf Coast hit a 50-43 second half though, taking the comeback win at the end 83-80. Jevin Muniz was the team’s leading scorer in the victory, hitting a double-double on 28 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Keeshawn Kellman was close behind on his 24 points, nine rebounds, and one assist, while Michael Duax chipped in 13 points.Â

North Florida vs Florida Gulf Coast PredictionÂ
I’ll lean toward North Florida, but this one could go either way. The Ospreys posted a solid win over a pretty decent Jacksonville team in their latest outing, hitting 42.4 percent from the field and 44.1 percent (15-of-34) from 3-point range. The rebounding wasn’t great though, as UNF had a 45-33 deficit overall (14-5 offensive). Still, the Ospreys are scoring very well these days with 70 or more points in 14 straight games.Â
The last time these teams saw each other, North Florida took a home loss 84-70 on February 8. The Ospreys got off to a horrible start in that one and only shot 37.7 percent overall. I’d like to see a much better all-around effort in the road rematch, but if all goes well I think North Florida can hang in there for the cover.Â
