Kent State Golden Flashes Betting Preview

Aside from a couple of choppy runs this year, the Golden Flashes aren’t playing too badly overall. Kent State opened on an 11-4 run over their first 15 games, taking out Louisiana, Miami OH Hamilton, Niagara, Cleveland State, Towson, Kennesaw State, Portland, Mercyhurst, Heidelberg, Northern Illinois, and Buffalo in that time. A 2-4 run came next with wins over Toledo and Bowling Green amid losses to Western Michigan, Miami-OH, Ohio, and Akron. since then, however, Kent State has rattled off wins over Eastern Michigan, Arkansas State, Central Michigan, and Ohio. That gives the Flashes a 17-8 overall run through 25 games this year so far.

In the Ohio matchup back on Friday, the Flashes posted a 44-40 edge in the first half. Kent State was outscored 35-32 the rest of the way but held on for the win in the end 76-75. Cian Medley led the team with 24 points, two assists, and two steals. Jalen Sullinger added 18 points with four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Delrecco Gillespie put up nine points with 12 rebounds and one steal in 33 minutes of work on the floor as well.

Bowling Green Falcons Betting Preview

Over on the Falcons’ side, they’ve had a couple of decent stretches of play so far but overall it’s been a struggle. Bowling Green went a spotty 7-9 over their first 16 games of the year. The losses in that time were versus Southern Miss, Davidson, Michigan State, Bellarmine, Weber State, Kansas City, St. Thomas Minnesota, Akron, and Ball State. Losses to Eastern Michigan, Miami OH, Toledo, Kent State, and Central Michigan came next, then a 3-1 run. The lone loss in that time was versus Ohio. Otherwise, it was wins over Northern Illinois, Coastal Carolina, and Buffalo, giving the Falcons a 10-15 overall run through their first 25 games this season.

Matched up against Buffalo back on Saturday, the Falcons hit a 28-27 advantage in the first half. Bowling Green posted 35 more points from there in an eventual win 63-59. Javontae Campbell led the team with 20 points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Trey Thomas added 10 points with two assists and two steals with one rebound. tops in scoring off the bench were Wilguens Jr. Exacte and Derrick Butler, each with seven points.

Kent State vs Bowling Green Prediction

I’m going to stay with Kent State. The Flashes are coming off a tight win over a middling Ohio team, giving up 51.9 percent shooting and posting 13 turnovers for 13 Bobcats points. That said, The Flashes shot well (46.3 percent) and hit 20-of-23 from the line (87 percent). The 34-21 rebounding advantage helped immensely as well. That makes four straight wins for the Flashes, with 70 or more points scored in each.

These teams last met up back on January 28 in a 75-57 home win for the Flashes. Kent State shot a nice 51.9 percent from the field in that one, holding the Falcons to just 32.1 percent on the other side. The Flashes need to watch the turnovers this time though, as they had 12 for 10 Falcons points in the last meeting.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Kent State Golden Flashes -7
