Denver Pioneers Betting Preview
Denver has had a pretty miserable year overall. The Pioneers were sitting at .500 back on December 10 after 12 games, though. The losses in that time came courtesy of Stanford, Colorado State, Montana, CSU Northridge, Utah Tech, and Portland. Since then, however, Denver has won just two games over Oral Roberts and Kansas City. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly, Northern Colorado, South Dakota State, South Dakota, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Omaha, St. Thomas MN, Omaha, South Dakota, and St. Thomas MN in succession. That gives the Pioneers an 8-18 overall record through 26 games this year.Â
In the weekend matchup versus St. Thomas MN, the Pioneers were within one point at the break. Denver didn’t end up getting any closer though, falling further behind 41-39 in the second for a 79-76 loss. Sebastian Atkins had 19 points with two rebounds, four assists, and two steals. DeAndre Craig added 13 points with five rebounds and two assists, while Nicholas Shogbonyo chipped in with 12 points, two rebounds and one assist off the bench.Â
North Dakota Fighting Hawks Betting Preview
Over on the Hawks’ side, they came out of the gate with a pretty spotty run and haven’t really found their footing yet. North Dakota went just 4-9 in their first 13 outings. The losses during that time came versus Colorado State, Notre Dame, Bethune-Cookman, SE Louisiana, Eastern Washington, Utah Valley, UTSA (twice), and Alabama. Since then it’s been a 5-8 run across the last 13 games. North Dakota has beaten South Dakota Mines, Waldorf College, Denver, Kansas City, and South Dakota State in that time. The losses have come courtesy of Omaha, St. Thomas MN, Oral Roberts, South Dakota State, South Dakota, North Dakota State, Omaha, and Kansas City in succession, giving the Fighting Hawks a 9-17 record this season.Â
Matched up against Kansas City in the road rematch over the weekend, the Fighting Hawks went into the locker room with a 41-27 deficit. North Dakota recovered mildly in the second with a 42-39 run but ended up losing pretty soundly 80-69. Treysen Eaglestaff led the team on 24 points with three assists, and Mier Panoam doubled up on 10 points with 12 rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 35 minutes of work during the defeat.Â

Why the Denver Pioneers will win
- North Dakota has lost seven of its last eight night games against Conference opponents.
- Denver has won the first half in three of its last four night games against the Summit League.
Denver vs North Dakota PredictionÂ
I’ll take a stab at Denver here. There’s not a lot to get excited about in this matchup, though. The Pioneers are coming off a decent effort against a pretty solid St. Thomas MN team, shooting 55.1 percent from the field with a 26-22 rebounding edge. The 15 turnovers for 15 Tommies points really hurt in the long run, though. Denver has been scoring very well lately, but they’re also giving up a truckload of points on the other side: 78 or more in just the last three (all losses).Â
The Pioneers lost 95-70 at home the last time these teams met up back on January 9. The turnovers were an issue in that one as well (17 for 23 points), so Denver is going to have a lot to clean up in this road rematch.Â
