Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils Betting Preview
The Delta Devils haven’t had the greatest year so far, to put it mildly. Mississippi Valley State managed two wins over Mississippi University for Women and Oakwood in their first nine games but otherwise fell to Iowa State, Missouri, Texas, Kansas State, BYU, Utah, and UC Santa Barbara in that time. December 2 was the last time the Delta Devils visited the win column. Since then it’s been losses to Liberty, North Texas, Tulsa, LSU, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Prairie View, and Texas Southern, resulting in a rough 2-15 overall record through the first 17 games of the season for Mississippi Valley State.
In the Texas Southern matchup on Monday, the Delta Devils came out of halftime sporting a surprising 28-27 lead. Mississippi Valley State imploded after that, however, coughing up a 55-25 deficit the rest of the way in an eventual loss of 82-53. Jair Horton came off the bench to lead the team on 11 points with three rebounds and six turnovers in 30 minutes of work. Alvin Stredic added 10 options with six rebounds in 34 minutes as the leading starter.
Bethune-Cookman Wildcats Betting Preview
Over on the Bethune-Cookman side, they’ve fared slightly better so far this year—but not by much. The Wildcats limped to a rough 2-8 record over their first 10 games of the season. The only wins in that time were over South Carolina State and North Dakota. Otherwise, it was losses versus Texas Tech, Nebraska, Fort Wayne, Tulane, Gardner-Webb, Minnesota, Virginia, and West Virginia. Since then Bethune-Cookman has—to their credit—looked better on a 3-3 stretch. the wins in that time came versus South Florida, Florida A&M, and Grambling. Otherwise, the losses came versus Davidson, Mississippi State, and Southern for a 5-11 run.
Matched up against Southern in the Monday game, the Wildcats entered the second half sporting a 39-23 deficit. Bethune-Cookman kept the pace the rest of the way on a 30-30 run but still took a sizable loss 69-53 in the end. Leading the way in scoring (and the only player on the team to finish in double-figures) was Daniel Rouzan with 15 points, one rebound, and one assist. Trey Thomas added eight points with four rebounds and two assists, while David Onanina put up four points with four rebounds in 12 minutes off the bench.

MS Valley State vs Bethune-Cookman Prediction
I’ll stay with Bethune-Cookman I suppose. There’s not a lot to get excited about in this matchup, but it should be a manageable game for the Wildcats. They’re coming off a rough 33.9 percent shooting and a 43-36 rebounding deficit alongside 15 turnovers in their latest loss to Southern. The 2-of-13 (15.4 percent) from outside didn’t help either. B-CU has been below 66 points in three straight games now, going 2-1 in that time.
As for MS Valley State, it’s tough to find many positives. The Devils have been below 68 points in eight straight games now (all losses) and likely won’t break that threshold here either.
