Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles Betting Preview
This year the Screaming Eagles have a good run in the books during November and December, but otherwise, it’s been a struggle. Southern Indiana lost four of their first five games versus DePaul, Bucknell, Marshall, and Fort Wayne, with a lone win otherwise versus Bellarmine. A 5-1 stretch followed for the Eagles, with a lone loss to Southern Illinois among wins over South Dakota, Indiana State, East-West University, Shawnee State, and Tennessee State. Since then it’s been a string of four straight losses for Southern Indiana. Those have come versus Tennessee-Martin, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech, and Southeast Missouri State, resulting in a 6-9 overall record so far for the Screaming Eagles.
In the matchup versus Southeast Missouri State on Thursday, the Eagles entered the second half looking up at a 37-31 deficit on the scoreboard. Southern Indiana didn’t get any closer on a 40-35 second half and lost 77-66 in the end. Leading the team off the bench in the losing effort was Sam Kodi with 15 points, six boards and two assists in 26 minutes. Braxton Jones added 13 points, and Stephen Olowoniyi doubled up on 12 points and 10 boards in the loss.
Little Rock Trojans Betting Preview
Over on the Little Rock side, they opened up the season with a spotty stretch but they’ve gotten better since then. The Trojans went 3-4 over their first seven games overall. In that time Little Rock beat Arkansas Baptist, UTSA, and Tulsa with losses otherwise versus Winthrop, Arkansas State, Arkansas, and Illinois mixed in. A 5-1 run followed with a lone loss to UIC among wins over Maryland Eastern Shore, Central Arkansas, Ouachita Baptist, and SIU Edwardsville. The last two games have both been losses, however. Little Rock has dropped to Tennessee and Morehead State in that pair for an 8-7 overall record thus far.
In the Morehead State matchup on Thursday, the Trojans went into the break sporting a 26-20 deficit on the scoreboard. Little Rock wasn’t able to make any headway from there on a 33-33 run and lost 59-53 in the end. Tops in scoring during the losing effort was Isaiah Lewis with 14 points, seven boards, one assist, and one steal. Mwani Wilkinson added 12 points with nine rebounds, while Johnathan Lawson put up 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
Why the Little Rock Trojans will win

- Southern Indiana has lost eight of its last nine games against the Ohio Valley Conference.
- Little Rock has won the first half in 11 of its last 12 games at Jack Stephens Center.
Why the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles will win
- Little Rock has lost five of its last six day games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
Southern Indiana vs Little Rock Prediction
I’m likely going to stick with Little Rock. The Trojans could use a good bounce-back after a loss to Morehead State in their last outing, though. Little Rock shot a meager 36.5 percent from the field and 16.7 percent (2-of-12) from 3-point range in that one while coughing up 14 turnovers for 13 Eagles points. The Trojans were pretty good on the boards (38) but mustered just five team assists between them. Generally, Little Rock has relied on defense lately, holding opponents to fewer than 65 points in all eight wins so far.
As for Southern Indiana, they haven’t hit 69 points in four straight games (all losses) so it’s hard imagining the Screaming Eagles mustering enough offense in this one. I like Little Rock to get a much-needed win/cover here.
