UNC Asheville Bulldogs Betting Preview
This year the Bulldogs started out on a rough run, but they’ve since straightened things out in the record column and are playing much better these days. UNC Asheville opened on a 3-4 stretch over their first seven outings, beating only North Florida, Southeast Missouri State, and Tennessee State with losses otherwise versus Alabama, Ohio, and Central Arkansas. Since then the Bulldogs are a nice 7-2 over the last nine games. UNC Asheville has losses to only UNC Wilmington and Longwood in that time. Otherwise, it’s been wins over St. Andrews, Bluefield University, Western Carolina, North Florida, Virginia-Lynchburg, Columbia International, and High Point, resulting in a 10-6 record through 16 games so far this year.
In the High Point matchup on Wednesday, the Bulldogs came out of halftime looking at a 46-45 deficit on the scoreboard. UNC Asheville didn’t end up getting any closer on a 39-31 second-half run and lost it 85-76 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Jordan Marsh with 15 points, three assists, and two rebounds. Kameron Taylor added 14 points with three rebounds off the bench in 27 minutes, and Josh Banks had 12 points with two rebounds and two assists.
Presbyterian Blue Hose Betting Preview
Over on the Presbyterian side, they’ve been struggling to stay above .500 so far this year (and failing so far), but they didn’t start out too badly. The Hose took a 5-3 run over their first eight games, beating Carolina Christian College, Wofford, Stephen F. Austin, Youngstown State, and Monmouth in that time. The losses otherwise were to Charlotte, NC State, and Kennesaw State. It’s been an ugly 3-7 run over the last 10 games with wins over only Columbia College SC, Virginia-Lynchburg, and Longwood. Otherwise, the losses were versus Tennessee Tech, Florida A&M, Miami, Manhattan, South Carolina, Gardner-Webb, and South Carolina Upstate.
Matched up against the Spartans in their Wednesday game, the Hose held a 38-33 deficit by the break. Presbyterian hit a 39-34 deficit the rest of the way and lost 77-67 by the end of the game. The top in scoring was Jamahri Harvey with his 18 points in 32 minutes. Kobe Stewart was the only other player on the team in double-figures with 16 points, three rebounds, three blocks, and two assists. Jaylen Peterson nearly doubled up off the bench with nine points and 10 boards, though.
Why the Presbyterian Blue Hose will win

- North Carolina-Asheville has lost four of its last five road games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
- North Carolina-Asheville has lost the first half in four of its last five road games.
Why the North Carolina-Asheville Bulldogs will win
- North Carolina-Asheville has won 14 of its last 16 day games against the Big South Conference.
- Presbyterian has lost 14 of its last 17 day games against Conference opponents.
- North Carolina-Asheville has won the first half in five of its last six day games.
UNC Asheville vs Presbyterian Prediction
I’m staying with UNC Asheville. The Bulldogs need a good bounce-back effort here after falling to a pretty good Longwood team in their last outing. UNC Asheville shot well in that one (53.7 percent) but also got drilled on the boards 48-23 (24-4 offensive) and had 12 turnovers for 14 Lancers points. The good news for UNC Asheville is that they’re scoring well these days. They’ve hit 74 or more points in nine straight games—a 7-2 run.
As for Presbyterian, they were quite permissive on defense to a struggling USC Upstate team (50.9 percent shooting) in their last outing. UNC Asheville shouldn’t have a ton of difficulties putting up points in this one if all goes well.
