St. Louis Billikens Betting Preview
This year the Billikens kicked things off with a 2-2 run featuring wins over Avila and LMU between losses versus Santa Clara and Wichita State. Since then it’s been three straight wins over Quinnipiac, UMass Lowell, and Jackson State.
In the Tigers game on Monday, the Billikens were in trouble with a 35-30 first-half deficit. St. Louis rallied on 44 points from there, however, eventually winning 74-66. Gibson Jimerson led the team with 21 points with three rebounds.
San Francisco Dons Betting Preview
Over on the Dons’ side, they beat Cal Poly, Boise State, LBSU, and Chicago State in their first four before a pair of losses to Memphis and Clemson. It’s been two wins over Fordham and Mercyhurst since then.
On Sunday versus Mercyhurst, the Dons also trailed in the first half 36-32. San Francisco hit a 55-23 run the rest of the way in an 87-59 win, though. Malik Thomas was the team’s leading scorer with 29 points and four steals.
Why the San Francisco Dons will win
- San Francisco has won each of its last 11 night games against non-conference opponents at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
Why the Saint Louis Billikens will win
- Saint Louis has won five of its last six games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
St. Louis vs San Francisco Prediction
I’ll lean toward San Francisco here, but the line's thick enough that you could make a good case either way. It’ll be a good matchup. The Dons started a little slow versus Mercyhurst in their last game but eventually shot a nice 58.2 percent from the field with 37 rebounds. The foul shooting was pretty awful (17-of-31 for 54.8 percent), however. San Francisco has scored 82 or more points in all six of their wins—and a combined 119 points in their two losses.
As for St. Louis, they’re coming off a slow start as well but eventually hit 52.8 percent with 43 rebounds against Jackson State. The Billikens have 74 or more points in six of seven games this year, so a big points total may well be in the cards on Thursday. At home though, I like the Dons to power out the cover. It should be a solid matchup regardless.
