In this article we will formulate a Redblacks vs Elks prediction for this CFL game on Thursday, July 9th at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this CFL matchup.

Ottawa Redblacks Betting Preview

The Ottawa Redblacks are 0-4 this season after they lost to the Roughriders by a score of 27-22 last week. Ottawa was tied 13-13 at halftime and they trailed 27-16 in the fourth quarter, but they scored in the fourth for the cover. The Redblacks out gained Saskatchewan by a total of 333-329, went 6-18 on second downs, and tied the turnover battle at two in the game. Jake Maier threw for 259 yards and one touchdown, while Justin Hardy caught five passes for 92 yards. Greg Bell rushed nine times for 45 yards in the loss.

Prior to that game, Ottawa lost to the Alouettes by a score of 37-35 and lost to the Argonauts by a score of 44-24, and they are currently last in the East Division. The Redblacks have scored 25.5 points per game with 269.8 passing yards and 65.3 rushing yards per game, while they have allowed 34.3 points against per game this season. Jake Maier has thrown for 1,079 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions, while Justin Hardy has caught 18 passes for 261 yards and two scores. Greg Bell has rushed 29 times for 114 yards this season.

Edmonton Elks Betting Preview

The Edmonton Elks are 3-1 this year after they lost to the Lions by a score of 36-24 in week five. Edmonton trailed 29-21 at halftime and only managed three points in the second half in the loss. The Elks were out gained by a total of 475-416, went 14-23 on second downs, and lost the turnover battle by a total of 4-2 in the game. Cody Fajardo threw for 395 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions, while Austin Mack caught eight passes for 141 yards and one score. Justin Rankin rushed seven times for just 19 yards in the loss.

Prior to that game, Edmonton defeated the Blue Bombers by a score of 23-18 and defeated the Alouettes by a score of 32-29, and they are currently tied for first in the West Division. The Elks have scored 27.0 points per game with 289.8 passing yards and 117.0 rushing yards per game, while they have allowed 26.0 points against per game this season. Cody Fajardo has thrown for 1,159 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions, while Austin Mack has 20 receptions for 273 yards and three scores. Justin Rankin has 53 carries for 406 yards and four touchdowns this year.

Redblacks vs Elks Prediction

Edmonton comes into this matchup after picking up a loss last week, but they are at home and they are a big favorite to win. The Elks are 3-1 on the season and while their offense isn’t great, they have allowed 21 points or fewer in two of their four games. Ottawa is looking for their first win of the season and they have allowed 32+ points in three straight. The Redblacks did cover last week against Saskatchewan and I think they can keep this game close as well, as the Edmonton offense isn’t great. Take Ottawa and the points here.

David Racey's Pick: Ottawa Redblacks +7
