Rice Owls Betting Preview
Rice was only able to maintain a .500 clip through their first 10 games of the year. The Owls opened on a 3-1 run with a loss to Houston among wins versus Louisiana, Prairie View and Charlotte. A 2-4 run came over the next six games though, as Rice beat only UConn and UAB among losses to Navy, Florida Atlantic, UTSA and Memphis. That would put Rice at 5-5 on the 10-game mark.
Matched up against North Texas last weekend, the Owls gave up double-digit points in three of four quarters on the way to a blowout loss 56-24. QB Chase Jenkins had 101 yards and a TD on 14-of-21 passing and Aaron Turner led the rush on 78 yards and a score off nine totes. Turner was also tops in receiving with eight grabs for 58 yards and a TD.
South Florida Bulls Betting Preview
Over on the Bulls’ side, they haven’t done too badly this season, all things considered. USF lost to only Miami in their first seven games. The wins otherwise were over Boise State, Florida, South Carolina State, Charlotte, North Texas and Florida Atlantic. A 1-2 run came in the next three games however with a win over UTSA sandwiched between losses to Memphis and Navy. That would give the Bulls a 7-3 overall record through 10 games this season.
In their game versus UAB last weekend, the Bulls were up 17-10 by halftime and scored double-digit points in three of four quarters during a 48-18 blowout win. QB Byrum Brown was 19-of-25 for 353 yards and three scores while lead receiver Media Reuben caught five balls for 174 yards and two scores. Nykahi Davenport had 121 yards and a TD off 17 carries, and Brown rushed in a couple of scores as well.

Rice vs South Florida Prediction
I’ll go with South Florida. Just about the only weak area in the Bulls’ blowout win over UAB last weekend was their 13 penalties for 104 yards. Otherwise it was a sterling effort with 544 yards, 9.2 yards per play and 24 first downs from the offense. The defense came up with three picks on the other side but did allow 27 first downs and 8-of-15 on third downs. Still, they were out there a lot due to the quick offensive scores. In any case, USF has scored 31 or more points in eight straight games, so they’re cooking on the scoreboard right now.
As for Rice, they gave up 640 yards, 469 pass yards, 11.6 yards per play and 25 first downs to a good North Texas team last weekend. The Owls have given up 34 or more points in three of the last four games, so USF should have plenty of opportunities on offense here.
