LSU Tigers Betting Preview

The Tigers opened up the year on a nice clip, taking wins in each of the first four games. Those victories came versus Clemson, LA Tech, Florida and SE Louisiana. A rough 1-4 run came next however, as LSU could only beat South Carolina in that time. The losses otherwise were versus Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and Alabama. Game 10 was a win over Arkansas though, giving the Tigers a 6-4 run over their first 10 outings this year.

Last weekend versus Western Kentucky, the Tigers held a slim 10-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter and managed to hang on for a 13-10 win at home. QB Michael Van Buren had a 25-of-42 line for 202 yards, one TD and one pick. Harlem Berry added 18 carries for 80 yards, and Zavion Thomas had six catches for 47 yards in the winning effort.

Oklahoma Sooners Betting Preview

Over on the Oklahoma side, they kicked off the year with a solid win streak as well. The Sooners bagged victories over Illinois State, Michigan, Temple, Auburn and Kent State in their first five. A 1-2 run came next with a lone win over South Carolina in between losses to Texas and Ole Miss. Since then however, it’s been three more wins over Tennessee, Alabama and Missouri in succession. That gives Oklahoma a 9-2 record through 11 games thus far.

Matched up against Missouri last weekend, the Sooners scored 14 points in the second quarter alone. The second half was a defensive battle, and eventually Oklahoma posted the win 17-6. QB John Mateer was 14-of-30 for 173 yards and two scores, while also leading the rush on 60 yards from 18 carries. Tops in receiving was Isaiah Sategna with three catches for 109 yards and a touchdown in the winning effort for the Sooners.

LSU vs Oklahoma Prediction

I’ll stay with Oklahoma. The Sooners are cooking right now, and coming off yet another nice win over a ranked opponent. In the Missouri game, Oklahoma did it with defense, giving up 301 yards, 70 rush yards, 4.2 yards per play, 19 first downs and 3-of-15 on third-down tries alongside a couple of picks. The offense wasn’t spectacular but got the job done on 276 yards, 4.5 yards per play and 14 first downs—not to mention zero turnovers. The Sooners should be primed and ready for this final regular-season matchup.

As for LSU, they had trouble putting away a pesky Western Kentucky team last weekend thanks to nine penalties, two turnovers and a rough 3-of-16 result on third downs. The defense was great though, with 152 yards, 2.3 yards per play and 14 first downs allowed with two interceptions. The Tigers have been below 14 points in two of the last three games.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Oklahoma Sooners -10
