Idaho Vandals Betting Preview
The Vandals have three games in the books so far this year—with some mixed results and tight finishes among them. Idaho kicked things off with a battle against Washington State that eventually turned into a 13-10 road loss on August 30. Game two went better (but was still close), a 37-30 win over St. Thomas MN. Idaho’s Joshua Wood threw for 281 yards, three scores and a pick on 20-of-25 passing, and also led the rushing attack on 87 yards and a score off five carries. Tops in receiving was Tony Harste with five grabs for 92 yards and a touchdown.
In their game last weekend versus Utah Tech, the Vandals were able to power out a 20-6 victory to move to 2-1 on the season so far. Wood threw for 119 yards and a touchdown on 14-of-25 passing (along with a rush score) this time, and Art Williams added 16 carries for 144 yards. Ryan Jezioro caught five balls for 50 yards and a touchdown to top the receivers.
San Jose State Spartans Betting Preview
Over on the Spartans’ side, they’ve only got a couple of games completed so far this year. First came a tense home matchup versus Central Michigan. San Jose State fell behind quickly 10-0 and couldn’t rally for the win in a 16-14 loss. QB Walker Eget was 24-of-43 with 308 yards, two TDs and two picks. Floyd Chalk topped the rushers on 11 totes for 44 yards, and Danny Scudero had a nice game receiving with nine catches for 189 yards and a touchdown.
Matched up against Texas on September 6, San Jose State fell behind quickly and trailed 28-7 by the break. The Spartans couldn’t score in the second half and ended up losing 38-7. This time Eget was 21-of-42 for 188 yards and an interception. Tops in rushing was Jabari Bates with 44 yards and a TD on 10 totes, and Kyri Shoels had eight catches for 73 yards.

Idaho vs San Jose State Prediction
I’ll probably take a stab on Idaho, but in reality I’m likely not touching this one. The Vandals didn’t have a ton of issues with Utah Tech this past weekend, even if they didn’t really light it up on offense. Idaho still notched 405 yards (286 passing) and 5.7 yards per play with 26 first downs, though. The zero turnovers and just one penalty (for five yards) certainly helped matters as well. The Vandals have had their ups and downs this year, and two of their games have been decided by seven points or fewer. I’d like to see a decidedly dominant effort out of the Vandals at some point.
As for San Jose State, they’ve got one tight loss (a game they probably should have won) and a blowout defeat against a rough Texas team so far. The Spartans did generate a couple of takeaways, held Texas to just 2-of-12 on third downs and benefited from the Longhorns’ 12 penalties but the offense couldn’t crack it on the other side thanks to four turnovers. If San Jose State is going to control this one, it’ll be through the defense.
