Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens Betting Preview
The Hens opened up their 2025 campaign with a pretty solid 35-17 win over Delaware State. In game two versus Colorado, Delaware wasn’t as fortunate though. The Hens gave up points in every quarter (and didn’t score outside the second themselves) during a 31-7 loss. QB Nick Minicucci threw for 312 yards, one TD and one pick on 18-of-36 passing. Leading rusher Jo’Nathan Silver carried 11 times for 47 yards, and Jake Thaw led the receivers on his four catches for 85 yards in the defeat.
In last weekend’s matchup with UConn, the Blue Hens scored 28 points in the first half but still needed overtime to power out a 44-41 victory. Minicucci was 23-of-34 for 265 yards and a touchdown (with three more rushing) this time, and Silver led the rush again with 15 carries for 179 yards and two scores. Kyle Duplessis caught nine balls for 161 yards and the touchdown.

Over on the FIU side, they’ve got three games in the bag as well-with some mixed results already. The Panthers demolished an overmatched Bethune-Cookman team in their opener 42-9, but then faced a tough Penn State team in game two. FIU had a modest 10-0 deficit heading into the second half but couldn’t find the scoreboard in an eventual loss 34-0. QB Keone Jenkins was 15-of-28 for 127 yards and an interception. Kejon Owens led the rushing attack on 15 carries for 78 yards, and JoJo Stone topped the receivers with his lone 27-yard catch.
In their third outing of the year versus Florida Atlantic, the Panthers were down 21-17 at halftime then scored 21 points in the third quarter during a 38-28 victory. Jenkins threw for 184 yards and a score on 18-of-24 passing, and Owens rushed 19 times for 173 yards and two scores. Maguire Anderson was the lead receiver with his five catches for 81 yards. Alex Perry added two catches for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Delaware vs FIU Prediction
I’ll stick with FIU. The Panthers do have a few things to work on after last weekend’s comeback win over FAU, though. Florida International gave up 478 yards (343 passing) and 24 first downs in that one, but the 8-of-18 on third-down stops and three interceptions helped immensely. On offense FIU had 224 rush yards (408 total) but went just 3-of-12 on third downs themselves. The Owls’ 11 penalties certainly didn’t hurt matters, either. In their two victories, the Panthers have now scored a combined 80 points.
As for Delaware, they had a little trouble with a sketchy UConn team last weekend but everything worked out. The Hens posted 512 yards (265 passing) on offense and had 29 first downs with zero turnovers. On defense Delaware gave up 521 yards (346 passing) and 29 first downs with zero takeaways. There will be a lot of work on the defensive side of the ball in practice this week. Delaware does have enough firepower to keep a cover pace here though; they’ve scored a combined 79 points in their two wins this season.
