A summary that ties it all together and produces a favorable betting outcome for the Central Michigan and Akron game.

Central Michigan Has Confidence

Central Michigan has some confidence right now coming into this game and they have won two straight games. Two games ago against Wagner they won 49-10 and in the last game against Eastern Michigan they were able to pick up the 24-13 victory. Joe Labas was under center and he completed 14 of his 16 passes for 138 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions. The running game was a two-headed monster. Angel Flores finished with 22 carries for 134 yards, with a long of 37 yards. Nahree Biggins also had a huge game fnishing with 14 carries for 113 yards and a touchdown.

Overall Central Michigan sits with a 3-2 record and for a team trying to make a bowl game, this is one that they really need to win. Central Michigan on the season is averaging 21.8 points while their defense is giving up 29 points per game.

Why the Central Michigan Chippewas will win

  • Akron has lost 12 of its last 13 October games against non-AP-ranked teams.
  • The favorite has won 28 of Akron’s last 32 games at InfoCision Stadium.
  • The favorite has covered the spread in four of Akron’s last five games.
  • Akron has failed to cover the spread in three of its last four games as an underdog against non-AP-ranked teams.

Another Long Year for Akron

It appears it’s going to be another long for year for Akron, and they are coming off another loss on Saturday. The only win for Akron came two games ago against Duquesne, and that’s probably the only one they will win all year. In the last game against Toledo though, Akron went back to the struggles, and they ended up losing 45-3. Michael Johnson Jr and Brayden Roggow both were under center, and both had their issues. Roggow did end up with the better stats completing 7 of his 12 passes for 51 yards. Jordan Grant also finished with 13 rushing attempts, and averaged only 1.7 yards. The defense was clearly an issue, but if they can’t find a way to get any offense going, it’s going to continue to be big time blowouts.

Akron is averaging 16.4 points while their defense is giving up 32.2 points per game. If it wasn’t for the one game the offense would be looking a whole lot worse. This offense just doesn’t have the playmakers to win.

Why the Akron Zips will win

  • Central Michigan has lost each of its last four games as a road favorite.
  • The home team has won each of Akron’s last four games.
  • Central Michigan has failed to cover the spread in each of its last nine October games as a favorite.
  • The home team has covered the spread in 10 of Central Michigan’s last 12 games.

Central Michigan vs Akron Prediction

Central Michigan is going to look like one of the best teams in college football, something that Akron makes other teams look like. Central Michigan isn’t an elite offensive team, but Akron can’t slow anyone down. That being said, this game is more coming down to the lack of scoring by Akron. The Zips offense struggles to move the ball, and it’s not going to get any easier here. Akron is going to struggle to reach even six points, and Central Michgian is going to end up cruising here. This game could finish 60-3 and it wouldn’t shock me one bit. Back Central Michigan to win this game and cover the spread.

Shane Mickle's Pick: Central MIchigan -8.5
