North Texas Mean Green Betting Preview
The Mean Green’s season began on a 5-1 run with wins over South Alabama, Stephen F. Austin, Wyoming, Tulsa, and Florida Atlantic. North Texas would lose the next four versus Memphis, Tulane, Army, and UTSA, however.
In their matchup with East Carolina on Saturday, the Mean Green were looking pretty good until the third quarter, when they gave up 24 points in an eventual 40-28 loss. Chandler Morris threw for 266 yards and three scores. Shane Porter led the rush on 17 carries for 74 yards.
Temple Owls Betting Preview
Over on the Temple side, they lost five of their first six games versus Oklahoma, Navy, Coastal Carolina, Army, and UConn before finally getting another win over Tulsa. Temple is 1-3 in their last four with losses to East Carolina, Tulane, and UTSA.
Back on Friday against UTSA, Temple held a 28-17 deficit by the break and eventually lost big 51-27. Evan Simon threw for 212 yards, two scores, and two picks. Dante Wright caught both touchdowns among his five grabs for 128 yards to lead the receivers.

North Texas vs Temple Prediction
I’ll lean toward Temple. Probably not touching this one, though. The Owls are coming off a bad loss to a decent UTSA team, posting just 13 first downs, three turnovers, and an ugly 2-of-15 success rate on third-down tries. Defensively Temple had three takeaways and was good on third downs (3-of-13) but also gave up 309 rushing yards. The Owls have 27 or more points in two of the last four games, but they’re also prone to severe offensive droughts.
As for North Texas, on Saturday they gave up 553 yards (255 rushing), 6.8 yards per play, and 26 first downs. The Green’s loss would have been even worse if it weren’t for ECU’s 13 penalties and two turnovers. North Texas is riding a five-game losing streak, but they’ve hit 27 or more points in four of those outings. Temple needs to get the offense going if they’re going to hit a cover pace. I think the Owls are capable of it, but I’m staying away.
