Temple Owls Betting Preview

Temple’s opener matchup this year was versus Oklahoma and turned into a 51-3 blowout loss. The Owls took another big defeat 38-11 versus Navy, then lost 28-20 to Coastal Carolina. Game four was Temple’s first win 45-29 over Utah State.

Last Thursday versus Army, the Owls had their hands full once again. Temple was down 14-0 by halftime and ended up limping to a 42-14 loss. QB Evan Simon finished with 224 yards, two scores, and a pick. Dante Wright caught eight balls for 98 yards and a TD.

UConn Huskies Betting Preview

Over on the UConn side, they opened up the year with a blowout as well, falling 50-7 versus Maryland. The Huskies beat Merrimack 63-17 in the next game before falling to Duke 26-21. Game four was a victory 48-14 over Florida Atlantic.

Matched up against Buffalo last weekend, the Huskies didn’t have too much trouble. UConn scored double-digit points in every quarter on the way to a 47-3 blowout victory. QB Joe Fagnano logged 217 yards with three scores. Skyler Bell caught all three TDs among his six grabs for 153 yards.

I’m probably leaning toward UConn. The Huskies had a pretty dominant all-around victory in their last outing versus Buffalo, notching 537 total yards (280 passing), 28 first downs, and 34:20 in time of possession. On defense, UConn allowed just 198 yards (123 passing), 12 first downs, and 1-of-14 on third-down tries.

As for Temple, they looked pretty lost against a hard-rushing Army team in their last outing, giving up 417 yards on the ground and 7.8 yards per play overall. The Owls posted minus-five yards rushing themselves and couldn’t stay on the field (24:40 in time of possession) anyway. The Owls have a little extra time to rest and prep for this one but I don’t think they’ll cover.
