Central Connecticut Blue Devils Betting Preview
In their first matchup of the 2024 season, Central Connecticut played Central Michigan. The Blue Devils were demolished in that one, falling 66-10. Game two versus Fordham went much better, however. Central Connecticut would win that one 33-3.
Last Saturday versus St. Francis PA, the Blue Devils were up 20-14 by the break. Central Connecticut had a tight second half but pulled off the win in the end 27-20. QB Brady Olson posted 163 yards and a score. Elijah Howard topped the rush with 102 yards off 23 carries.
UMass Minutemen Betting Preview
Over on the UMass side, they took a couple of tough losses in their first pair. The opener versus Eastern Michigan ended up with a 28-14 result. Game two versus Toledo didn’t go well either; UMass lost that one 38-23 to fall to 0-2 overall.
In game three versus Buffalo, the Minutemen could only muster a field goal in the second quarter. After giving up 17 third-quarter points UMass ended up with a loss 34-3. Taisun Phommachanh threw for 121 yards and a pick. Brandon Campbell was the lead rusher on eight totes for 36 yards.

Central Connecticut vs UMass Prediction
I’ll probably go with Central Connecticut. Also probably not touching this one, though. The Blue Devils haven’t played too badly in their last two games, and there were some very solid individual performances last weekend. Central Connecticut wasn’t super dazzling through the air in the win over St. Francis, but five different players had multiple catches. Howard’s 102 rush yards helped as well.
As for UMass, they hit the wall against Buffalo, notching just 193 total yards (121 passing) with 11 first downs and a 4-of-17 rate on third-down tries. The Minutemen should play better back at home this weekend, but I like the Blue Devils a little better cover-wise.
