Southeastern Louisiana Lions Betting Preview
The Lions had a rough season in 2023, failing to live up to some pretty high expectations. SE Louisiana managed a 3-8 overall record with a 3-4 result in Southland Conference games. The Lions finished ahead of only three teams in the standings: Texas A&M-Commerce, McNeese and Northwestern State.
Frank Scelfo returns for his seventh season at the helm of the Lions, and he’ll have a new offensive coordinator in Anthony Scelfo. Southeastern Louisiana was picked to finish third in the conference this year by the preseason coaches’ poll.
Tulane Green Wave Betting Preview
Over on the Tulane side, they’re coming off a great season in 2023 that ended with a couple of sour notes. The Green Wave went 11-3 overall and 8-0 in the AAC, but lost the conference championship game 26-14 versus SMU. In the Military Bowl versus Virginia Tech, Tulane took another loss 41-20.
It’s a fresh start on the sideline for the Green Wave as we begin the Jon Sumrall era. He’ll try to bring Tulane to their third consecutive AAC Championship Game, but that might be tough with QB Michael Pratt and several other key names gone from the roster.
Why the Tulane Green Wave will win

Southeastern LA vs Tulane Prediction
I’ll stick with Tulane. The Green Wave had a pretty strong team across the board last season, and though they’ve lost some talent the team should still be a formidable force in the AAC. Tulane was in the top three of the conference in total and scoring defense last year and the return of First-Team All-AAC selection Patrick Jenkins should help buoy that unit.
On offense the Wave benefit from returning RB Makhi Hughes and OL Rashad Green specifically, and there’s plenty of talent from the transfer portal. I like Tulane to start strong here but it remains to be seen how the season will play out.
Andrew’s Pick Tulane Green Wave -25.5
