Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev in the semifinals of the Miami Open in straight sets. The match took 22 games to decide and it was a lot tighter than their last meeting in Indian Wells. Sinner won the first set 6-3 with just one break of serve. The second stayed on serve for all 12 games and it was decided in a tiebreak. Sinner won it after Zverev made a mess with an overhead at a crucial point.

But Lehecka’s odds are even greater as he faces an in-form Sinner in the final.

Lehecka is coming off a straight-sets win over Arthur Fils in a very one-sided semifinal, with both sets finishing 6-2, 6-2 in Lehecka’s favor. The match lasted an hour and 17 minutes. Fils, who saved four match points in the last eight, did not have the energy to hang around for too long as he was overpowered from the back of the court.

That said, I can’t take the credit away from Lehecka, and in sports, you can only beat the opponent in front of you. Still, I can’t look past Sinner. The numbers he’s put together in the last four weeks and in hard-court tournaments over the last two seasons are very impressive and he will take some stopping.
