Dino Prizmic vs Nishesh Basavareddy Preview
The Red Group will get the 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals underway with an interesting matchup pitting Croatia’s rising star Dino Prizmic against former junior World No. 5 Nishesh Basavareddy. For Prizmic, this will be his debut appearance in Jeddah, competing in the 20-and-under tournament against some of the talented young players of his age group.
Prizmic is coming off a great comeback season after recovering from a wrist injury last year. He won Challenger titles in Zagreb and Bratislava on clay, which is his favorite surface. Prizmic is a former Roland Garros junior champion. But that does not diminish his talent on indoor hard courts. He has played 12 times on the surface this year and has a 7-5 record. His best run was a semifinal finish as a qualifier at the Lugano Challenger, where he lost to countryman Borna Coric. Prizmic hasn’t quite broken into the top 100 yet, largely because of numerous niggling injuries in his young career, but he’s only 28 spots down from that achievement.
Nishesh Basavareddy turned pro at this time last year, where he made his debut appearance at the Next Gen ATP Finals. He was tipped to impress, but in a very tough group that contained top 50 player Alex Michelsen, Basavareddy compiled one win from three matches and was eliminated.
12 months later, Basavareddy arrives in Jeddah with sufficient tour level experience than some of his peers. He’s touched the world’s top 100 and famously pushed Novak Djokovic to four sets at this year’s Australian Open. Basavareddy also made his first ATP semifinal in Auckland this season. He’s currently ranked 168th in the ATP rankings, having opted to cut down his time on playing Challenger events. His output has translated to 26 wins and 25 losses. Basavareddy will work with Gilles Cervara in Jeddah, a coach who worked with Daniil Medvedev for many years before they parted ways this season.

This will be the first career meeting between Prizmic and Basavareddy.
Dino Prizmic vs Nishesh Basavareddy Prediction
I’m giving Basavareddy the edge and at plus money. Both players are astutely solid with two of the best backhands in this tournament without a doubt. Basavareddy had a largely disappointing season after a promising start, but I rate him highly. I think the surface matters here more than anything, and he is simply more comfortable in these conditions and he already experienced first-hand playing in this event last year and knows the pressure it takes to win the shortened sets.
