The first set lasted an hour. Putintseva led 5-3 and served for it, but was pegged back. The 30-year-old counted on her experience to salvage the situation. In the second set, Putintseva got a late break in the eighth game to prevail 7-6, 6-3. She improves to 5-4 on clay this term. Putintseva has not progressed to the round of 16 at Roland Garros since 2018, the year she made the quarterfinals.

Andreeva has passed so many maturity tests since her explosive breakthrough two seasons ago that I reckon her consistency will hold up in the most decisive moments in the match.
