Alcaraz is now the fifth-youngest man to reach five Grand Slam finals. He has a 4-0 record in Major finals and won this tournament last season. Alcaraz has a 21-1 record on clay. He’s lifted two titles in Monte Carlo and Rome. He can complete a hat-trick of big titles on the surface should he lift his second French Open.

It’s clear by now that Sinner and Alcaraz are the pillars of the new era.

Neither player has lost a Grand Slam final in their career. Sinner is 3-0, and Alcaraz is 4-0. But I’m leaning toward Alcaraz to lift his fifth Slam. This is a stressful matchup for Sinner, particularly on clay. It’s not like Sinner can’t beat him (he’s done it four times in the h2h), but he needs to play close to perfect tennis. He thrives on patterns, and Alcaraz doesn’t give him that. The Spaniard is also his equal physically and can match him stride for stride. It’s a close final, the bookies think so. I reckon it will be even closer than what they served up in Rome.
