The Line: Betting Odds: Iga Swiatek -333 / Elina Svitolina +250
Iga Swiatek and Elina Svitolina meet in the quarterfinals of the 2025 French Open at Roland Garros. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3. Here’s our Iga Swiatek vs Elina Svitolina prediction. This preview will also include an Iga Swiatek vs Elina Svitolina pick.
Iga Swiatek Preview
Iga Swiatek survived a major scare in the fourth round against Elena Rybakina, prevailing in three tough sets to reach the quarterfinals of the French Open for the sixth year in a row. Swiatek played one of her worst sets on clay courts against the Kazakh in the opening stanza, where she only won a single game.
Things went awry in the second set when Swiatek lost the first game and Rybakina consolidated for a 2-0 lead. But Swiatek did not panic. She got the break back after Rybakina lost her serve for the first time in the match in the third game. And Swiatek, who had survived triple break points in the next game, broke again for a 4-2 lead.
The Pole wrapped up the set 6-3 to force a deciding set. The first six games were on serve, but Swiatek made her move when she broke for a 4-3 lead before Rybakina responded. And when it looked like a tie-break would be needed, Swiatek made Rybakina pay for a nervous 11th game. She broke the former Wimbledon champion before she served for the match. Swiatek keeps her chances of retaining the title alive and gave Rybakina credit for playing some great tennis in the first set.
Elina Svitolina Preview
Elina Svitolina pulled off her own comeback win during the day, saving three match points to beat last year’s finalist Jasmine Paolini in three sets. Svitolina trailed 4-6, 1-4 and looked certain to exit the tournament. But tennis matches are only settled after the final point. And Svitolina was given a lifeline when Paolini’s serve cracked under massive pressure towards the end of the second set.
Paolini dropped serve at 4-2 up and then got broken again when she served for the match at 5-3. Svitolina then saved two match points at 4-5, 15-40 when she served to stay in the tournament. The Ukrainian saved one more match point in the tie-break to take the match into a third set. By then, Paolini’s legs were gone, and Svitolina was the fresher and more energetic player who finished the match strongly, winning the set 6-1.
Iga Swiatek vs Elina Svitolina Head-To-Head
Swiatek and Svitolina have met four times at all levels. Swiatek leads 3-1 and defeated Svitolina in their only previous clay-court match at the 2021 Italian Open.
Iga Swiatek vs Elina Svitolina Prediction
I was in the minority who thought Swiatek would lose to Rybakina. The match was pretty close, and Rybakina might have consolidated her winning position if she had a little bit of composure. She had Swiatek on the ropes before the Pole found form. Now it’s almost as if Swiatek has a lifeline in this tournament, and I think the rest of the field won’t take this news with so much delight. Paris is still Swiatek’s cathedral, and Chatrier remains a fortress. I like her chances to progress to the semis.
