Martina Trevisan is ranked 706th in the WTA rankings. She is a former Top 20 player who peaked at a career-high ranking of No. 18. Trevisan is a former French Open semifinalist and was part of the Italy team that won the Billie Jean King Cup last year. She is a one-time champion on the WTA Tour (Rabat) and won her second biggest title at the 125K level in Bastad last season. All 12 of her career titles, including those on the ITF, have been on clay courts.

Trevisan has spent a huge chunk of the 2025 season nursing a heel injury and only made her comeback at the start of July, where she was unsuccessful in her title defense in Bastad. Maja Chwalinska is ranked 133rd in the WTA rankings. This is just 12 spots below her career high ranking. Chwalinska has compiled 25 wins and 18 losses in 2025, mostly doing a lot of heavy lifting on the 125K level. 

In her last three tournaments at the 125K level, Chwalinska was crowned champion in Montreux and finished as a semifinalist in Rende, where she lost in straight sets to Sara Bejlek. She has a 19-11 record on clay this season.

Trevisan is a massive underdog here and the books are clearly factoring in her lengthy absence on the tour this year because of injury. And in the few appearances in the second half of the season, Trevisan lost in nine of 12 matches. And worryingly for Trevisan was losing to countrywoman Diletta Cherubini in Rende last month, which extends her winless drought to five matches. But in the last three matches, she has won a set twice, and in the only straight sets loss to Bolsova, she briefly led in the first set until dropping it in a tiebreak. Trevisan’s experience and her court craft on clay make her a menace regardless of her form. She’s good value to stretch the in-form Chwalinska to three.
