Casper Ruud is ranked 5th in the ATP rankings and is set to make his debut at the Dallas Open. Ruud has frequented the South American clay in the past but is going against his tradition and seeks to play on indoor hard courts. 

Ruud was part of the Norway team that lost to Argentina in Davis Cup qualifying this past week. Despite notching two singles wins, it wasn’t enough as Argentina won the tie 3-2.

Marcos Giron is coming his career-best season in 2024 in which he contested two ATP finals. One of those was in Dallas where he lost to fellow American Tommy Paul.

The other final was a successful one. Giron outlasted the field in Newport to bag his first career title just before his 31st birthday. The American tallied 11 wins and four defeats on indoor hard courts and achieved a semifinal finish in Antwerp last autumn.

Giron’s 2025 campaign began brightly. He made the quarterfinals of the Adelaide International with wins over Aleksandar Vukic and Denis Shapovalov before losing to eventual champion Felix Auger-Aliassime.

At the Australian Open, it was Jannik Sinner who stopped him in the third round. He last appeared at the Davis Cup scoring a singles win over Chun Hsin Tseng of Chinese Taipei.
