Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev meet in the semifinal of the 2026 Australian Open on Friday, January 30. Here’s our Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev prediction. This preview will also include a Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev pick.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev Preview

Carlos Alcaraz is coming off a straight sets win over home favorite Alex De Minaur in the quarterfinals. The first set was extremely competitive as De Minaur prevented Alcaraz from serving for the set at 5-3 up. But the Spaniard was not to be denied from sealing the set 7-5 just moments later. Alcaraz dropped a combined three games in the next two sets as De Minaur wilted. The match lasted two hours and 18 minutes as Alcaraz sailed to the semifinals of the Australian Open for the first time.

In the victory, Alcaraz hit 26 winners and 32 unforced errors. That included 5 aces and 3 double faults. Alcaraz landed 58% of first serves in play and won 77% of first serve points (37/48). Alcaraz won 54% of second serve points (19/35) and saved five of seven break points. Alcaraz has not lost a set in the tournament, having also beaten Adam Walton, Yannick Hanfmann, Corentin Moutet and Tommy Paul.

Alexander Zverev has reached a fourth semifinal at the Australian Open with a four-set win over Learner Tien. Zverev and Tien exchanged the first two sets, but the German raced through the third 6-1 in 29 minutes. Tien had a set point on Zverev’s serve deep in the fourth set, but Zverev saved it to force a tiebreak, which he would dominate from start to finish.

Zverev hit 56 winners and 22 unforced errors and that included 24 aces and 1 double fault. Zverev landed 72% of first serves in play and won 76% of first serve points (73/96). The third seed won 65% of second serve points (24/37) and saved all three break points he faced in the match. Zverev is 6-1 for the season and will attempt to reach his second successive final in Melbourne.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev Head-To-Head

Alcaraz and Zverev have met 12 times and the head-to-head is tied at 6-all. Alcaraz won their last meeting at the 2025 Cincinnati Open in straight sets.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev Prediction

I have to go with Alcaraz who has not let the pressure of pursuing the career Grand Slam get to him. Alcaraz has been winning the tight sets in this tournament and the Spaniard’s courageous efforts and willingness to go for his shots could well prove decisive in this meeting. Give me Alcaraz in four.

Nur Said's Pick: Carlos Alcaraz in four sets
