Alexander Zverev is the top seed at the Madrid Open. He eased past Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in his opening match. Zverev won the first set of their second-round match 6-2 in 35 minutes. He broke Bautista Agut’s serve twice.
Zverev did the same in the second set, which also lasted for 35 minutes. He finished the match with 30 winners and 18 unforced errors, including 10 aces and one double fault. Zverev landed 62% of first serves in play and won 81% of first serve points (21/26).

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Preview
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina continued on his good run of form. He scored a 6-2, 6-3 win over World No. 41 Nuno Borges of Portugal in his opening match of the Madrid Open. Davidovich Fokina took 32 minutes to seal the first set, getting the insurance of a double break early on, and then breaking Borges again to win the first set 6-2.
In the second, the Portuguese man put in a fight, but that didn’t matter as Davidovich Fokina broke his serve early and did not relinquish that lead for the remainder of the match. In the victory, Davidovich Fokina tallied 12 winners and eight unforced errors, including two aces. He landed 71% of first serves in play and won 69% of first serve points (25/36). Alexander Zverev vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Prediction
I’m rolling with the favorite here, and that is Zverev. So much has been said of his underwhelming performances after the Australian Open, but he’s peaking at the perfect time with Roland Garros just around the corner (won the title in Munich and is on a six-match winning streak). Additionally, some of his close rivals are either injured or out of this tournament. Zverev also has a great track record of excelling in Madrid, with two titles from three finals, and has not lost before the round of 16 in any previous edition.Â
