World No. 45 Marie Bouzkova will play World No. 30 Caroline Garcia in the quarterfinal of the 2024 Guadalajara Open. The match is scheduled for Friday, September 13, 2024. Here's our Marie Bouzkova vs Caroline Garcia prediction. This article will also contain a Marie Bouzkova vs Caroline Garcia pick.
Marie Bouzkova vs Caroline Garcia Preview
Marie Bouzkova scored her second successive straight-sets win of the week at the 2024 Guadalajara Open. She dropped just three games against Italian World No. 178 Lucrezia Stefanini to reach her fourth WTA quarterfinal of the season.
In the victory, which took about 90 minutes of court time, the Czech planted three aces against three double faults and landed 61% of first serves. Bouzkova won 64% of first-serve points (21/33) and 76% of second-serve points (16/21). She converted four of seven break points and saved all three break points on her own serve.
Caroline Garca, meanwhile, defeated Ena Shibahara in two tie-break sets which took about two hours of playing time. In the victory, Garcia compiled ten aces and seven double faults and landed 52% of first serves.
She won 73% first-serve points (32/44) and 65% second-serve points (26/40). Garcia converted one of two break points and also dropped her serve once, meaning the match was settled in tie-breaks. It is the Frenchwoman's first quarterfinal since April (Rouen) and her first on hard courts since the Miami Open.
Marie Bouzkova vs Caroline Garcia Head-To-Head
• Bouzkova leads Garcia 4-0 in their head-to-head, winning their only hard-court meeting at the 2023 Canadian Open in three sets.
Marie Bouzkova vs Caroline Garcia Prediction
It's scarcely believable that Garcia defeated both Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff in the same tournament this season (Miami) but has not won back-to-back matches on hard courts since. The head-of-head can be misleading in this case, even though Bouzkova has won all four matches in the series. They have contested some close matches, with two of those requiring three sets. I still give the edge to Bouzkova, whose rock-solid defense and patient point construction will again frustrate Garcia.
